Wrestling forum: Is Sting under-appreciated?

For those that do not know in WCW Sting was HUGE, and I can't start explaining how essential. But in WWE he doesn't get half those cheers admittedly he is old and this is WWE.

The better question would be who of the people in the audience ever knew who Sting was before he appeared on TV, ala who watched WCW. You wouldn't have that many positive responses. Most people that watched WCW don't watch wrestling anymore, and definitely don't consist of a large majority of the WWE crowd. That crowd consists of people who weren't even born before Sting appeared on WCW. You can't expect everyone to cheer for a guy, that albeit was a legend, essentially appeared out of nowhere and is being promoted as a legend that nobody has ever heard or seen of, which in the WWE Universe nobody ever had. So to answer your question, somewhat, but then again you couldn't expect any different.

Well all of today crowds can't compare to the 90's crowds during the Monday night wars so that answers your question about the cheers.

Secondly I think that many fans today are different. Most of them are not even true wrestling fans they are just people who just watch but are really not aware of a guy like Sting and all that he has accomplished and also since this is a PG Era crowd you have allot of the kids who definitely would not know who sting was so it's like crowd reactions are really so mixed you have some true fans in the crowd cheering but it's never really so loud like it would have been in the 90's Era not even close.

That's Sting's fault. There was no reason what so ever to join the WWE so late.he is 56 for crying out loud is he still in decent shape? yes he is but that really doesn't mean to much.Point is if Sting was ever going to jump the ship to WWE it should of been years ago and im talking 14-10 years ago hell he even could of joined around 5 or 6 years ago and it wouldn't of been so bad.

But what did he do? when he had the perfect chance to finally make the jump back when he still was an active fulltime performer but instead he signs with TNA and spent 9 years in a minor league company and wasted all those years when he could of made the jump to WWE.He gave Vince and WWE fans the middle finger and now that he is pretty much at the end of his career, irrelevant and TNA didn't want him anymore now is when he wants to join the WWE see what I mean?

I don't respect that at all. There was no reason for Sting not to join years back when Vince gave him all the chances in the world to join and lets face it that was when Sting would of been hell of alot appreciated fans would of marked out for Sting in the WWE back when the real wrestling fans were still around.

Sting will make some money for WWE at Wrestlemania, but he may be under-appreciated for those who have not seen him in action in TNA

The problem with your logic is it was 15+ years ago before he did anything memorable or had a decent match. Not counting TNA because again that also was post prime sting.

Yes a little i feel Sting is old so people ignore is achievements

Pele was huge to worldwide soccer. When he came to the US to play he was supposed to vault soccer to the top of US sports. It didn't happen. Although he was appreciated it just wasn't the same thing. It's similar with Sting. He had his day but it was years ago and somewhere else.

He gets one of the better reactions from the crowds, people like sting.

No he's treat as a legend

Yes by me,he`s an ultimate warrior/Brandon lee wanabe.
