Because that's the Braves are known for. Choking in the Postseason.
It seems that whenever the Braves get into the post season and are subsequently rudely dumped on their butts and out of the playoffs that it is popular to blame the manager.
And yet for years they were led by Bobby Cox who has been called one of greatest mangers of all time and bam, something always unexpected happened to negate his leadership. Many times under Cox, it was just plain bad luck that did in the Braves and some of their teams had awesome pitching and good to excellent hitting, but something would always go wrong!
That's baseball for you.
The Dodgers just flat out wanted it more as witness Mattingly gambling with Kershaw and starting him on short rest.
Also Dodger pitching completely stopped the Braves power hitters. They gave up only one homer to the this Brave team that led the league in homers during the regular season. Carl Crawford alone had three homers for the Dodgers.
Without their power game, the Braves were dead meat.
I don't know, but this years choke falls heavily on the shoulders of the manager for not bringing in Kiimbrel to start the eight. His response after the game as to why he didn't do that was really lame. He said he planned on bringing Kimbrel in after two outs! I've seen that done successfully many times in the regular season, but he managed like his team was ahead 2-1 and had a game to lose. To be honest though, the Dodgers could have very easily swept this series.
It's the ballpark...it's bad luck. The Braves have won just one NL pennant since Turner Field opened and routinely stumble in the postseason.
Part of the blame rests on Ernie Johnson, the lead broadcaster.
I think it was at the end of the 6th inning and before the first pitch on the 7th, he already brought Game 5 to Atlanta, saying "so Game 5 will be at 830pm East Coast time in Atlanta. I thought it was stupid of him. His broadcast since the beginning of the series was all pro-Braves.
The Caray curse, of course.
When you have or had a Caray as your broadcaster, you are doomed!
Harry: Cubs. Enough said.
Skip: Braves. Choke.
Only the Cardinals have been successful in breaking the Caray curse. Actually, I think Auggie Busch PUT the curse on Harry.
im a braves fan and really dont know but getting tired of it 2010 2011 2012 2013 4 years in a row!
There were up to nine other teams in the postseason and they all also want(ed) to win the World Series.
I wouldn't call it choking more of the better team winning in most cases.
They've been doing it ever year they've made the postseason since 91 except for one year where they won the world series. What"s the biggest reason for their postseason failures
They're the Braves. Sorry, Nats fan... can't help myself...
