Why are MMA fighters so overrated ?

I used to watch lots of MMA fights , there's no clean technique at all. I wonder if they really hit each other.

you have no idea what your talking about... Obviously you have never trained as a fighter.. Those guys are extremely skilled and intelligent.. If your talking about the ugly boxing it's cause the gloves give barely any protection, and every time they get hit, it's a potential knockout, so they've got to move in quick, hit, then move out quick without getting touched.. It's not like boxing where they can sit and trade

It may appear as people having little skill or technique, I have watched a few MMA fights myself and I must say it appears slightly so myself. However, now I want you to go watch some street fight video and compare the two. Are these fighters so weak after all? The fighters actually have some true talent- you must be masterful in your area of expertise as well as efficient in other areas to have a chance in MMA, and the reason you don't see jump kicks and similar fancy techniques is because of the setting being a cage (you miss, you fly into a cage and get beat up) and in some arenas, the rules. (Many arenas prohibit kicks and knees to the head, cheap shots, etc.) So, while it is true that if you mastered a technique designed for street fighting/military use (eg Kajukenbo, Krav Maga) rather than competition use you would potentially have an edge, but altogether MMA fighters have lots of skill and talent and are not to be underrated.

"I wonder if they really hit each other."

Even if they don't, at least they pretend to fight each other. Traditional martial artists like Kung Fu/Wing Chun or Tae Kwon Do practitioners don't even do that. They barely even spar, let alone pit their skills (or the lack thereof) against an opponent of a different discipline. They will always complain about rules and what not (even though they consistently lose even under no holds barred environments), but the harsh reality is, elite MMA fighters are the best fighters on the planet, regardless of the rules. Rules or not, even the best traditional martial artists WILL get schooled by even a mediocre UFC figher.

MMA is the evolution of martial arts. If you want to be a successful martial artist, MMA is the route you are BOUND to take.

Not sure if this is trolling or not.

By and large, if anything, MMA fighters are underrated. It's not as if they're unbeatable, but the top 10% is going to be hard to beat if you're also not one of the top 10% of MMA fighters in the world. These guys are in great shape, and train to fight for a living, unlike most martial artists, who do it as a hobby.

The fact that you can't tell if they really hit each other or not indicates that you really have no idea what a real fight looks like. Same with the "clean technique" comment. Boxers, who specialize in punching, only hit each other with about 1/3 of the shots they throw; in MMA, they have to worry about kicks as well, in addition to clinching and takedowns, which severely messes with the ability to land a clean shot. With that said:

It's not that they are overrated. The NFL, most players and coaches talk about it like a battle. There are "trench battle" comparisons to military trench strategy. The guys call themselves warriors, but if asked what their job is, they would probably reply NFL player.

MMA is a sport, the contestants should probably be identified as players. You can't have a fight, and rules. Getting in a fight can have legal ramifications that might find one having broken the law, like accidently breaking the muggers neck. But if tragedy should happen while the players are MMA'ing/punching to the chin and landing it, no rules are broken, no legal recourse.

there are too many, MCs who are overrated, ya axe me they wasn't even supposed to make it, in the rap biz, they don't know what rap is, so give it up become an actor or an actress, or a producer, cuz you fail to use, the mic right, so take flight, before I bruise ya

I don't think you have ever seen a real fight. Quit watching synchronized tv a movie fights.

What do you mean by Clean Technique? And yes, they hit each other like men. Not like you and your 6 year old friends.

Because real fighting is brutal, tiring, and unpredictable. Dojos like to manipulate students into thinking that fighting looks like their katas and falsely beielve they can end fights with the snap of their fingers. "Everyone's got a plan until they get punched in the mouth"-mike tyson.

You must be a WWE fan

I used to watch lots of MMA fights , there's no clean technique at all. I wonder if they really hit each other.

Volunteer to be a sparring partner and you will find out.

So you believe in form over function?

I like MMA lots of booty.
