Why Does Kung Fu Always Involve The Same Origins?

It was a common practice in ancient China for parents who had difficulty feeding themselves and their existing children to leave a new born, or months old infant, that they knew they could not take care of on the steps of a monastery. The monasteries usually had a large bell outside the door that was set up for the purpose of alerting the monks to the presence of an "orphan". This was done because if the child went unnoticed in the night it may have died from exposure, or possibly have been taken and/or harmed by wild animals.

As long as people will watch movies about orphans they will make movies about orphans and as long as people will listen to stories about orphans there will be stories about orphans. What is the worst thing that can happen to you in life? Not being wanted, not even by your parents. The best thing is becoming a hero. What makes the best stories is going the the worst to the best. Dropping an illegitimate child at a monastery sounds like a good idea to cover up the dishonor a woman might have gotten herself into. You can't marry off a woman with a child. At least with the orphans there is a story to tell.

In reality girls are often not so lucky and in cultures where it is important for the parents to have a son to take care of them when they are old and where having a daughter is very expensive because of the dowry, the murder of girls is unbelievable. I just saw a documentary from India where a woman had killed 8! daughters right after they were born and it was OK.

If the orphan thing bothers you try to come up with something original in your own story. It's always easy to criticize things than to make it better.

Because foundlings can be treated like proper martial arts students. In short, like cr@p.

They have no mommy or daddy to bubble wrap them or complain that their teacher is being mean to them. Nobody particularly holds back or slows for them through parental concern. They have to toughen up to survive and not only does it work great for them it makes them compassionate and perfect little heroes.

What the heck are you talking about. I have never heard any stories like that. And you do realize that Kung-Fu is a general name used to describe at least 300 to 400 DIFFERENT Chinese martial arts styles.

...

Really?

The only story I heard in martial arts that is similar is of Su Kong Dai Jin, the person who supposedly taught the teacher of Sin Kwang The.

Is this what you are referring to?

If it is, let me fill you in on the facts - Su Kong Dai Jin was a real person.

Sin Kwang The is a FRAUD.

He had to admit in a US court that the art he claimed he inherited and claimed he was Grand Master of, was FABRICATED by him.

Do a search of him and "jake mace" - another fraud student of his.

Aside from this, no other story exists, that I know of.

As in seeing abandoned infants on doorsteps with a blanket covering them. It's so repetitive, like in Harry Potter as well. I mean you can't really keep using the same thing, it's highly unoriginal.
