Before I opened my big school and was teaching martial arts in two health clubs I had a children's class for about a year in the nursery of the one health club in the evening after that room was closed and service not offered. I have seen a karate class that was taught in the basement of a bar before and another that was routinely held for several years in a room above the local VFW but a decent instructor.
With rent and utilities and insurance and city ordinances being what they are these days it can easily cost someone several thousand dollars up front just to rent a space and start up a class or school. The last place I had a school at (which was not open to the public) I closed after ten years. The tenant that moved in after me had to pay almost two grand for minor upgrades to things just because it was a new business and the local city ordinances had changed from when I had rented that space.
Base your decision on the quality of the instruction more than anything else. I would be willing to attend a class in a large bathroom if the coach or instructor was someone of note rather than a place that had all the fluff but was not worth a darn otherwise.
First of all Shaolin Kung Fu isn't the origin of all Martial arts. Believe it or not there were some before it.
Now to answer your question Muay Thai, most known for it's lethal kicks, elbows, knees ect.
You say the run a day care center, but have you seen them actually practice? What's it like?
for kickboxing, it's usually the practitioners that make a martial art sloppy although it is worrying when almost everyone in a class sloppy. By the way everyone has an off day, ask for a free trial, see what it's really like through your perspective. Good luck dude.
I would advise you to take the Muay thai classes. As far as am concerned, kickboxing is an art that requires optimum dedication, and if as a spectator you are seeing laxity, then its not the best place to head. Get the Muay Thai tactics, they are just amazing.
Do Muay Thai it is a perfect for both mental and physical health. IF you come across a Shaolin Kung fu gym ,, try it because it is the origin of all martial arts in the world and the most bad *** martial art ever
So I want to take up Muay Thai and where I live there is only one place that teaches it but Idk kinda seems more like a daycare center... Like seriously they run a daycare center during the day. But I know that probably doesnt mean much. But there's another place that teaches kickboxing but when I watch their videos they look really sloppy... I've kinda run out of choices... Which one is the better choice? Or should I try a class at both gyms then decide?
