What is the best martial art for a tournament?

Posted at: 2015-05-07
I was thinking ninjutsu, but I want to know what's the best.

Ay, Callsign Fuzzy made a very good point. Tournaments vary.

If you would be so kind as to get back to us telling us what type of tournament, we could help you out more.

As for ninjutsu:

Ninjutsu is truly a great art when a proper master is found and you are being taught right. BUT

Thanks to "ninja boom" and all the ninja hype stemming from hollywood movies, myths, etc, the ninja became a humungous marketing tool and this rubbed off on the bujinkan very badly. Very.

Suddenly "ninja masters" started popping up everywhere claiming to teach authentic ninjutsu/taijutsu with all it's "secret techniques".

Instead of learning a historical martial art, people would go out in the full costume, climb trees, play around with the historically inaccurate ninjato, through throwing stars, and learn parkour.

I would honestly estimate that 85% or lets be nice and say 75% of ninjutsu in the modern is fraud, charlatan, and a waste of time to learn.

That's just sadly how it is.

So if you plan on learning or taking ninjutsu, do your research to letter. Ask yourself the question. Is what you are learning applicable for the real world. Does your technique work. Etc.

You would be better off learning ballet than bad ninjutsu.

Hope that helped.

Train hard fight harder.

Depends on what kind of tournament bro.

But, Kickboxing is the best in any situation where stand up is the focus.

I am not sure if you are aware if this, but there are a lot of fakes out there. If your trying to become a real fighter (win a street fight/tournament) you want boxing/kickboxing/judo/jujitsu.

If you want to learn an art and discpline you want karate, jeet kun do, and various chinese martial arts (there are so many different styles).

Ninjutsu would be conisdered an art and the only real teachers you are gonna find are in Japan and not very receptive to foreigners for the most part (culture thing, i lived there for 4 years)

Uh ya so, if your really dedicated you can get ninjutsu, but the effort required is going to be legandary and it will take years of commitment.

Hope I helped!

What sort of tournament?

Point sparring tournament? Just about everything with kicks and punches.

Grappling tournament? Going to need throws and submissions.

Traditional forms tournament? Go for something with low stances and a long history.

Musical forms? Probably something with fancier movements- leaps and spins.

There are SO many different tournament formats in martial arts. You're going to have to be more specific.

Tournaments vary.

JKD. Finish everyone quickly. In any situation, and by any rules.
