PS in some cultures the art actually becomes a dance(like certain African cultures, certain south east Asian cultures and etc.), but for the most part it becomes sportive.
Hard arts were for the most part founded though war or times of conflict examples are pankration one of the oldest martial arts used by the Greeks. Then further refined though times of peace and eventually became sports And/or ways of peace and self defense. Of course New arts or systems are still being developed or incorporated with the changing battle field.
I only know of India and Shaolin ...which was invented by bodhidharma for health because of the poor shape the monks where in.... so he taught them eighteen Arhat hands ( shi-ba lohan shou) and later found after he left the temple yijin jing ( muscle/ tendon change classic) is one of the first martial arts in Asia besides Tai Chi... most martial arts spread from China to other Asian countries...some styles where invented by monks watching animals fight... then played around with the fights to get the animals movements and mimic them..
I think martial arts started as a combat 'system' made for military purpose like CQC. It may have came from religious and philosophical practices but I doubt it came from some dude playing around.
Difficult to tell, because in many of them, the stories on how they have started, are more like legends, rather than accurate stories. Obviously martial artists now days are testing a lot trough play fighting (sparring) but how each martial art actually started, is not easy to tell.
For example there are many theories and legends on how did the Wing Chun started. One of them says that Wing Chun started around the late 17th or early 18th century from Ng Mui. Legend says that one day, she saw a confrontation between a snake and a crane. Then she combined what she saw, with her knowledge of Shaolin Kung Fu and created the style. Obviously this sounds more like a legend rather than anything else. There are historical evidence from practitioners of the 19th century and what they did of course but how did Wing Cun actually started....legends and theories. (The legend of Mg Mui is much bigger I just mentioned a part of it.)
Pankration is having its own legends. One of them it says that it was invented by Heracles (Hercules) who was using it in his legendary adventures. There are historical evidence from the Ancient Olympic games of course but how did it actually started....legends and theories.
oog came out of his cave and hit ugg over the head and took all of uggs belongs, ugg then headed west walking through the wildness, crossing deserts, and rivers he search and climbed the highest mountain where he eventually he found chuck norris. after much debate chuck taught ugg martial arts and ugg climbed back down the mountain and beat up oog.
ogg then walked to the east cross the desert and ocean searching the land were he eventually found bruce lee, after a long talk he taught ugg martial arts. and then it was on.
NO it was not created from a game it was created through battles and warfair, it was refined over the eons until what we have today
no, it was probably started and refined in ancient militaries. a little combat training can make a huge difference
