1. It was Sting's first match
2. Triple H didn't need the win
3. The constant run-ins made the match less about Sting vs Triple H and more about DX vs nWo, and then on a larger scale, WWF/E vs WCW, despite Sting claiming it wasn't about WCW (serves me right for getting lost in the narrative)
4. There was an awkward handshake at the end, making Triple H look like a face, only to have a heel segment later in the night
5. It seems like this feud could continue later in the year, which would be strange
No, it was a great match and made things nostalgic. BURIED? Really? Talk about abusing the most overused word in the IWC. How exactly did they bury Sting?
Was it when he almost beat Triple H multiple times? Or when he kicked out of a Sweet Chin Music after all those beatings and broke Triple H's sledge hammer in two? Maybe you missed the part where it was a great match and they both shook hands. It was a fun match to watch.
Triple H has lost tons of matches, to Undertaker, Brock Lesnar, Daniel Bryan and The Shield (as Evolution) in recent memory. Triple H needed the win to take the Authority seriously.
Nah I think it was a good thing. It gives me that feeling that it was a nice conclusion for Sting finally being in the WWE and it felt good seeing him and Triple H shaking hands after the match.
A little disappointed but I hope it leaves the door open for Sting to take part in more WWE matches. Sting vs Undertaker (if it happens in Wrestlemania 32) would be great.
Either way, Sting's reputation and legacy is firmly in place even if he decides to retire.
Not overly disappointed, but it seemed strange to build Sting for all those months like a dominant figutre just to have him lose in the end.
Kinda
No. It was the only possible outcome. I fully expected it.
NOPE AND NEITHER WAS STING
No not really
