Vince McMahon/Monday Night Wars?

So I have a question concerning Vince McMahon and WCW: why does he still act like WCW was a bad thing?

I mean yes, at the time in the 90's they were really giving him hell as a rival promotion and it made him have to reinvent his promotion and produce better content and spend more money. But at the end of the day, looking at it right now, the rivalry with WCW pretty much skyrocketed ratings for the WWE (WWF back then) and helped transform the WWE into what it is today.

And yes, Vince is a shrewd business man, but he still walks around today like WWE has something to prove to WCW, even though he bought WCW and it no longer exists. Aside from TNA which isn't really even much of a competition, WWE is pretty much the sole major wrestling promotion in the United States. I mean take for example last nights match at Wrestlemania 31 with Triple H vs Sting. You know damn well and right the only reason Sting lost that match was because Vince McMahon said he should to teach him a lesson for sticking with the rival promotion.

I guess it could be his pride or something, I don't know. But it just seems to me like in Vince's mind there is still a war going on with WCW and he has to keep proving that WWE is better.

Lets look at the True Legacy of the Monday Night Wars

-- 'adult' content... a term which I find Ironic seeing how immature some of the people are who demand to see a return to 'TV 14'

-- Guaranteed Contracts... which, while good for the Talent is bad for the Company bottom line

-- All live, all the time... good for the Fans, but the production budget has got to be insane compared to what it was pre-WCW...

-- WCW is Dead... for all his Talk Vince actually seemed content to ignore Turner's WCW, save for to treat it like he currently does ROH... and to mock them for NachoMan and Huckster et al... which considering how much of their pre-NWO storylines were essentially extensions of their WWE work is only fair

and regardless of how it turned out, Bischoff is on the record as an agent of WCW, and Ted Turner stating his Express Goal was to put Vince out of business... That Vince buried them does not change the fact that as JBL said last night "They tried to take our livelihood." there is no statute of limitations on being angry about that

Some people don't let go of grudges. Vince will never forget his perception that Ted Turner tried to put him out of business. Vinnie did much worse things to the regional promotions to drive them out of business yet sees himself as a victim of evil Ted Turner. Therefore hes lorded his power over all the top people in WCW to satisfy his need for vengeance.

Because deep down inside they know WCW was the better Brand so they want to try and rub it in as much as possible. If it weren't for bad writing and booking in the end they would have easily lost the monday night wars to WCW.

Case in point he books himself to win against Sting in his first ever Wrestlmania debut which was uncalled for but to only spit in the face of WCW
