As far as not trying to finish the fight. Some guys try harder than others. That is up to individual fighters. The other fighter plays a part too. If the other fighter keep a safe distance it hard to end a fight. You have to be in range to end the fight.
I can admit I used to watch a lot of pro wrestling. I don't see it now. But if I had more time I probably would even though I don't like the story lines that they use today. I like the old stuff. They had the good guys vs the heels. the heels came out and interrupted matches and the good guys came out to help and there was a big fight.
This is one of those times where i partly disagree with Pugpaws here. While i agree that seeing the same technique used repeatedly can become monotonous, i disagree about the finishing comment.
You are 100% correct that fighters dont try to finish the fights anymore. They have too much to lose, a loss can end a career or start a career on a slippery slope in the UFC simply because they dont allow much grace for failures. For many years now fighters have begun to fight so they dont lose, not so that they win. It might sound the same but it is very different in mentality.
GSP was one of these fighters that just did whatever he needed to do so he didnt lose and he bacame stale and boring and i HATED watching him fight, then you get guys like Wanderlei Silva who would rather get knocked out than have the fight go to the judges. He went hell for leather the whole fight because he fought to win. He never technically stalled fights and done what was needed to win on points like most of the fighters do in the current age.
I think what you're noticing is just what happens at the highest levels of sport. Good athletes make difficult things look easy and graceful--that's their genius. When you watch some of the best strikers and grapplers in the world, often times their skills negate the effectiveness of each other and it can look "boring" or like they're not really getting after it. It's like seeing a guy like Aroldis Chapman in baseball. He throws an "easy" 100 MPH fastball. I guarantee if you stood in the batters box, even just to watch it, there is nothing that would seem easy about it.
Watch something like Bellator http://www.bellator.com/ or WSOF http://www.wsof.com/home/19 and you'll see more of the mismatches that will you give you the type of fights you're looking for. Sounds like you're watching for knockouts and not competition (which is fine) so the highest levels of the sport may not be for you in terms of the best entertainment.
You obviously weren't watching the UFC Fight Night on Saturday.
I disagree with your comment about the fighters not trying to finish the fight. I think what has happened (at least in your case) is that you have seen fights for some years now and see the same techniques applied over and over. There is rarely something really new that is used. Seeing the same things by different people does get old.
...
I think all martial arts hosted on television is boring. But that's just me.
i do i mean wwe is fake but it looks more real than the ufc now
kinda
yes it is..... no talent, too much dumb rules, stupid cage is always in the way of fighters, too much steroids and cheating....
lol
Back around 2010 and before UFC was fun and they actually fought each other, now they act like it's a sparring match at the gym, and just kinda casually spar each other and don't even try to get a finish. Who else agrees with me?
