Don't know about China but there is 1 in Belgium, 1 in Greece and 4 in Germany
Life in Denmark is much more expensive than life in China...The amount of money that you will need it depends from you...
Is not easy to tell you how much because it depends on where are you going to stay, for how long, how much are you going to spend there e.t.c I know that Denmark has a very good unemployment benefit program that even if you work there for a bit, they give you unemployment benefits for quite a while...
When you travel somewhere and want to know how much it will cost, you check for the airplane tickets, for the place that you are going to stay and how long, and for the prices there of everyday goods and you calculate like that plus the extra expenses...
Jeet Kune Do is not in China..Is a concept that was preexisting and Bruce Lee put it in his own words and made it his martial arts philosophy..It is a quite simple in a sense and natural philosophy...In China you will find many Chinese martial arts schools but most of Bruce Lee's students and their students are in the USA.:)
If I recall correctly I told you how much you need. For 3 months you need about 30 000 DKK. But let's cut the BS here. You are not interested in martial arts. You are bored back home and you want to leave. Right? Then leave. Go. What is the problem?
But wherever you go you need money. Life in Asia is not that simple. I've been here for 5 months soon. It has its ups and its downs. So for the final and last time. Get 30K, go to Bangkok. You can try out muay thai in Thailand if you want. Then you can go to Hanoi and try out BJJ. There are some excellent schools there. And you can go to China to try something else.
But you are being extremely naive. It's not something that is done just like that. I would still recommend to get an education. But that is up to you.
besides having no money, what language of chinese do you even understand? let alone read?
there are several dialects, and most people dont speak english there.
as you were told yesterday jkd is a philosophy and a marital art, besides coming fromt the united states and not china.
you can train any art and with jkd it does not have to be wing chun.
the problem with traveling is you not only need money but you need to understand the language, you also need this for training as well as living in the country.
I stand by my answer to you on your other question.
Get a job. Save some money. Find classes locally. Then if you want to travel, do so. But don't expect to study JKD in China. In fact be leery of anyone professing to be a black belt in this "style".
As you were told, true JKD is the martial arts philosophy of Bruce Lee, not a style. So while there may be a handful of people who teach JKD concepts as he intended, there are a ton of folks who claim to have studied under him or under someone who studied under him and are now experts.
I also stand by learning all you can via books, Internet, etc. There is a ton of literature not only on JKD but also on martial arts. If you haven't read The Art of War, it's a great place to start.
As for wanting to travel. I commend you for that. But unless you can afford to do so, it's hard to do without money. Maybe see about getting a job on a cruise ship, or a freighter. I'm not sure what jobs there are and about restrictions about hopping off and then back on. But it's worth investigating.
Also I don't know much about the Chinese arts but Okinawa seems to be receptive to visitors coming and studying. You might find it easier to find an Okinawan art near you then after some training be allowed to go study there for a bit.
Anyway again, I wish you the best of luck, but think you need to do some research, and some planning. Try not to let your desire to do things hinder you. You're young and it's great to want to explore the world. Just be wise and safe about it!
For one month of training in a Chinese Martial Arts Boarding School including a plane ticket from the US to China, transportation from the airport to the school, fees for a Visa and a little sight seeing and spending money, nothing fancy is about $5000 US for me. It get's quite a bit more expensive if you plan on staying in a hotel.
...and it is helpful if you know Chinese language. If you don't, go with a tour group. If you have never been to China and don't know your way around, I would not recommend you try this on your own right off the bat. If you don't like tour groups at least contact a travel agency and have them arrange for a private tour guide to meet you at your destination to help you get around and you can contact if you do get into trouble. China is not Denmark, and yes, I have been to Denmark too.
your first problem is that JKD is not Chinese but an art formed by Bruce Lee in the US and most of his students are in Los Angeles.
If you are going to China, there are many great martial arts there such as the parent style of JKD though you might want to check out Taiwan or Hong Kong for older styles (most martial artist were killed by the dictatorial chinese government)
I can tell that your english is quite good so you can travel for free if you have a college degree and are willing to teach English in Asia. It would help to know your educational level so that we could actually help.
As for travelling for free as a martial artist, I found the the most expensive part was the airplane ticket. I went to Okinawa and stayed there for about 4 months under some very recognizable instructors. If you are interested in China in particular, there might be someone who could help you but if it is Asia in general, Okinawa is an easy place to get introduced to real Karate instructors, there is a prefecture sponsored organization named Traditinal Okinawan Karate and Kobudo ( okkb.org )
They have JKD in China? It might exist in Hong Kong because that's where Bruce Lee is from and he made a couple movies there but I really doubt you will find it anywhere else in the eastern world. He only made like 3 movies there and came back the US after each one. I don't think he spent enough time there to train a master that would be worthy of leaving your country to go study under. I'm sure you could find a Wing Chun Master though. You don't really have to go to China to learn it though.
Nobody can tell you that! You have to find a school
online.
Why would you travel to China to study something that's not really Chinese?
So yesterday I asked about Travelling to China to learn jeet kune do. And it seems alot of you misunderstood, or I simply didn't make myself clear enough.
Alot of you said i was delusional because i thought I could go to China without any money. But the main question in my thread was
"How much money would i need to be able to go to china and study JDK"
I can also understand that these schools are a rarity in China. So I was thinking, since I already did some wing chun, that i'd might start that idk. To be fair.. the main thing is getting away from Denmark.
As cliche' as it sounds, I really don't feel like i fit here, the atmosphere depresses me, the culture sicken me. The way everybody is introvertet unless drunk.
I wan't to travel, experience things.. but i lack the money.
I thought JKD was focused in the USA…
