Study martial arts in china?

I'm sorry to be that guy but you could move somewhere in the states-maybe seattle, and start studying martial arts here before hand. There are a few places said to be connected to the temples who teach some of the same arts. New York, NY's shaolin temple for example. new York in particular has always been big on the traditional Chinese arts (specifically nyc, more specifically manhattan). some of the schools in china, like the rising dragon, are known here but...well they aren't cheap, much of how they operate are getting money from foriegners who want to come to china to learn genuine wushu. after you save up some money you will be a lot better off, unless uve got debt to pay in which case the waiting will take a little bit longer still.

They have literally hunreds od schools opened by former students in China. Most of them are located near the Shaolin Temple. All the schools are run like legitamate schools and businesses. They are not cheap. You should do your research on the schools to see about the costs and factor in spending money since their meals will seem very small compared to what you are used to.

There are plenty of schools. You should be able to find one that suits your needs. Do plenty of research and put aside ALOT of money before you commit to anything.

Good Luck

Become a Monk.

I've shown much interest in the shaolin temple since I was very young. My cousin told me about the monks and the teachings and since then I've strived to do what I can to get to the temple to train there. There is no martial arts classes or anything like that in my area so instead I get up at 6 o' clock in the morning and practice some moves I've learned in books online and in books.

It has been my life long dream to get there and with this being my last year at high school I want to go there straight after. The only thing is I have seen the fees and I will never be able to afford them. I would do anything I can to compromise or strike a deal with the masters to polish the temple in the evenings or teach English to the younger children learning there but they won't accept that I don't think.

Does anyone on here know of anywhere In China, for hopefully 5 years, that I could study on a small one off payment or work off the payment with the temple on here?
