Chi is a real "energy", but the popular portrayal of it by charlatans like Dilman leaves the public with a false impression of what it is, and after watching Dilman and other frauds I don't blame people for disbelieving. He is a con man and does not represent true martial art.
Edit@ Keyboard "Warrior"
Wow, not very original are you. Looks like you win again, LMFAO.
I'm not a believer in the mysticism of "chi". Especially the BS "no touch knockout" stuff.
"Chi" was a term used to explain things like physics, biomechanics, and biofeedback by people who didn't have those words in their vocabulary. It's not magic.
My interest in Dillman goes as far as his kata interpretations. However, I think he's been drinking his own cool-aid too long.
Any technique that can be blocked by the position of your big toe or tongue can be declared ineffective.
I do believe in chi (qi) in the sense that we do have a vital life force. Our bodies use ATP to power our cells. We get the energy to power our ATP from food and air, just like it is described.
I do not believe that qi can be shot out of your hands DBZ style to knock out an opponent hiding behind a bed sheet.
I believe in one touch knockouts, so long as by touch you mean strike. I believe in vital point striking, in that if I hit you in the correct way on the correct location, I will knock you out. Any strike that torques the brain stem hard enough will do it. I can take your qi out by knocking the wind out of you with a solar plexus strike. I can hit you in your carotid sinus (stomach point 9) and convince your body that your blood pressure is spiking which can cause you to faint, or at least get woozy. I can block your qi with a death touch by hitting you in the windpipe hard enough.
Things like that, yes. Things like Dillman, no.
Dillman is a proven fraud. His techniques worked on his cooperative students but he was made a fool of by skeptical reporters.
"Chi" does not exist. It's part and parcel of traditional Asian culture and medicine....But it's nonsense.
Only his gullible students.
Who said that? Was it here on Y!A?
*sigh*
I don't buy this chi thing but found this video and wonder if anyone respects this Dilman character?
