personally I can swing a baseball bat faster and with more accuracy than I can a sledgehammer. The damage only counts if you actually connect. Much easier to connect with a bat.
One hit in the head with a bat and you're dead too. Besides you can swing a bat more times than you can swing a sledge hammer.
Speed v Mass... the Hammer has more force, if you can get it in position and moving, but the weighted end means its harder to start in motion
add to that Sting had the High ground, so HHH has to get in the ring first and then ready the Hammer...
