Should the Pirates sign Kendrys Morales?

Yeah and Davis has been designated for assignment. I do think you picked the place I project him to go. I feel that the Orioles would be a good suitor. Teams looking for a low risk possible high reward bat will be on him, like the Pirates would look for. I am not sure though that they would want him as a first baseman. DH/pinch hitter with maybe occasionally playing first, but with his lack of defense and ability to get hurt will keep him from being a starter.

I more feel that if they need a firstbaseman they will trade for one, but some possible free agent options in my opinion would include:

Corey Hart

Mike Morse

Mark Reynolds)

Adam Laroche (if they spend the money but I doubt they will)

National League? Ick! NO!

First, in 2014, his hitting was simply abysmal. It wasn't just because he was playing at Safeco. It was because he was hitting badly. His .218/.316/.338/612 slash line is bad, his wOBA was sub-.300, and his ISO was in the .150 range. In other words, a terrible offensive year.

Then, in the NL, he has to play the field, and the only possible place to put him is at 1B, and he's bad there. You can't put him anyplace else.

So, it might be worth it for some AL team to sign him to a minor league contract with an invitation to Spring Training, to see if he can start hitting again, with the thought of having him DH. But for an NL team? Uh-uh. And to offer him guaranteed money of any kind is kind of silly.

morales is a great hitter. his fielding is questionable and his age makes him a scary sign especially for a national league team. if it was an american league team and they had DH they should sign him, but its harder. if he can't DH theres a lot of questions on if he can last the whole season

I'm m's fan soo I now how rough KM is he is so bad. He disappoints a lot! Pirates do not sign him!

Last year I heard some analysts say that they thought Kendrys Morales would be a good wit the Pirates. He ended up missing about a quarter or more of the season before resigning with the Mariners. First base has been a problem for the bucs the last few years Travis Snider and Ike Davis haven't exactly made a splash. Mabye Kendrys who had to settle for a 1 year deal with the M's last year should sign for a 1 or 2 year deal with Pittsburgh. Also I know his numbers were down last year but in a smaller park like PNC wh could be a 20-30 HR man. Yes he may be more suited for a DH job in the American leauge but with Nelson Cruz still unsigned it will be harder for Kendrys to find such a role.
