How is it "suck a little bi@ch move"? Leg kicks are a legitimate way to end a fight, and have been for millennia. How is a leg lkick any different from an arm lock or a choke? How is, at worst, requiring some surgery and rehab on the ACL worse than being beaten into a coma, or to death, by punches, kicks, and knees?
No. Leg locks should not be banned. Anyone who thinks so is ignorant of the nature of martial arts fighting.
Nope. It's done because it hurts like hell, and if enough are landed, it can make the opponent have a hard time moving, pivoting, and just plain standing on their own feet. It's a strategic tactic often an ends to a means.
A good solid leg kick can "trip"/drop the opponent, knock their legs out, giving a fighter an opening for full mount etc.
Dude if you're looking for something more noble and manly stick to watching boxing. The people behind it are not noble or honorable etc but the sport itself is how real men settle it in an organized fight. In mma you use whatever works within its rule set so you'd have to be dumb to just throw punches.
MMA doesn't need even more rules than it already has!
This is martial arts. If MMA competition is ever suppose to be deemed an effective test of skill, as it's often professed as, then there needs to be more leniency to techniques, method and combative skill.
Have you ever been hit by one or by a person throwing one that knows how to throw one and practices throwing them? I agree they usually don't look like much but when you are on the receiving end and getting kicked by a person who has hardened their shins and can use them then you will certainly have a different opinion especially if you don't train for them.
They should ban leg kicks if this is a safety issue. While we all like to be entertained, we should always put the safety of the competitors above all else.
They really hurt, and after all, MMA is meant to be a full out brawl, kicks to the leg should be allowed, but i know where you're coming from.
