Seriously, what's the deal with NL baseball?

You say you don't care about tradition or strategy but many baseball fans do. enjoy your DH rule in the AL and let those who want the purity of the game to be maintained, as it is intended to be played, enjoy watching NL games.

The pitcher batting is not a automatic out. When I was 9 and first began watching my beloved Cleveland Indians, many a game when the Indians led off with their 8th hitter followed by the pitcher, I thought this is a good time to go into the kitchen and fix myself two or three hot dogs especially since in those days they were on the Cleveland Indians commercials and told all of us viewers how good they were for our heath. Well before I knew it Cleveland just scored two runs, the 8th hitter walked and the pitcher hit a home run. Any body standing in the batters box (even you) with a bat in their hand can hit a home run, especially if you are a pitcher, because pitchers are relaxed at the plate, they don't get paid for hitting, so they have nothing to lose, plus many a pitcher takes it easy vs. another pitcher, result, ITS GONE GONE GONE!

Well actually according to Sports Illustrated the National League voted on a rule in 1897 exempting the pitcher from batting but it was voted down and the last time the National League voted on this according to Sports Illustrated was in 1982. But there is more to baseball than having a big power hitter. You aren't taking into consideration of stealing bases and the double steal.

Baseball is a game of strategy. Like in tonight's game removing Peavy and going with the pinch hitter. But baseball is also a game of hitting, pitching and defense. Adding a DH adds to the offensive output, but it does nothing else for the game.

Low scoring baseball is very exciting and that's what I prefer to see. Then the Red Sox already have home field advantage, would you give them the advantage of the DH in St.Louis also?

I love the Nation League and hate the AL. Anyways, there are 9 guys out in the field right? Right! So then all 9 guys should have to bat! The DH makes no sense to me.

Some things people just keep kind of like a tradition. Sure it might not make any sense at all to us but they are still gonna do it.

I just can't get over them not having a DH. Having pitchers hit is just ridiculous. It's an automatic out. That's absurd. I don't care about tradition. I don't care about the strategy, like double-switches, etc. When you're intentionally walking the guy in the 8-hole that hits .220 to get to the pitcher, I just can't get into that. 2 men on, 2 outs...well, just walk him and get to the pitcher. It's crazy. I'm a Red Sox fan, so I'm spoiled with a guy like Big Papi, but even on another team, I'd rather see another legit bat in the lineup. Can any NL fans explain what the appeal could possibly be, besides mere familiarity with it?
