Risks in martial arts?

The game you play, Bloody knuckles, can strengthen your knuckles (but its by damaging them). Your playing with fire because this is an easy way to get arthritis. As for punching concrete, I used to hit walls and trees fullpower. It did me no good accept for giving me 'temporary arthritis' that once I stopped went away. Here is what does help you: Punching a muaythai bag bareknuckle. This is not easy and while it may not make your knuckles extremly hard, will make your wrists hard and help you hit harder.

Last piece of advise: Whenever you punch, keep your first as tight as you can. The tighter your fist, the harder the impact.

What you call "ability", doctors might call "condition needing medical attention". Orthopedic doctors, accupuncturists, rehabilitation specialists, and psychiatrists might want to have a word with you.

I don't know how you came to the 75% number, but, that's a very large amount of force being applied to a stationary object. Little pain could mean damaged nerves.

Nevertheless, yes - in time, such unsupervised activity can land you in the orthopedist's, accupuncturist's, or rehabilitation specialist's office. (Or psychiatrist's couch...)

rare event number two i actually agree with kw for a second time in less then a month. i fear the world may be ending soon with this latest news.

everyone run for the hills, the world is ending

your silly game has nothing to do with martial arts. hitting concrete walls is just being stupid. never hit anything harder then your bones.

do we look like doctors? do we have access to your x-ray's/mri's, did we do an? examination of your hand?

If you stop the activity for a long time, your right hand should be able to go back to be the same as your left.

In a martial art book "The Complete book of Shaolin by Wong Kiew Kit", he says that by hitting a certain part of your body on suitable objects like pole, iron sand bag, etc a hundreds times everyday for 1 years, you will inevitably develop a specialized external force that are called iron fist, iron leg, iron head, iron palm, depends on your body part. He then said something about the success of iron palm as follows (although I'm not sure whether he means it with the use of internal force Qi gong or not)

3 years = small success, you will be able to create small hole on brick walls with one strike. On human, you will kill them with one strike.

10 years = big success, you will be able to destroy the whole walls with one strike.

Whether it will bring risk, he said yes there will be risk but if we follows his instruction + chinese medication for treating injuries in the book, the risk can be avoided and the speed for the art mastery can be faster. The only reason for the lack of people with this Art is because of the need of dedication and discipline in continuing training for a long period of time.

As far as i had watch in youtube video and stories, only 2 martial arts trains in the arts and they are traditional kyokushin karate (search youtube for Fight Quest Kyokushin), and obviously shaolin Kung fu. On a internet article about a taekwondo master being shot to death, there was a description of the master fist that have calluses and can break anything..

"He'd punch through anything ― punch through concrete, punch solid metal...." http://www.miaminewtimes.com/2008-04-03/...

p/s it will look stupid to ignorant people and i did agreed in the past. Anyways, there are demonstration of iron palm in youtube video + in Fight Quest Video on Kung Fu, the master show the training on breaking bricks by hitting his palm and back hand on a bag of something (sand maybe?). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fWEuWXEZe...

I agree with Kokoro and KW. This is not about martial arts and should not even be posted here. Reported!

***** please. I can hit a wall with 80% of my full power and not feel any pain with both hands. Your ability is weaksauce.

I used to play "knuckle fights" (you hit your opponents fist with you fist, then he hits, you lose when you give up) with my school friends. I finished school 18 months ago.

Recently I discovered that I can hit a concrete wall with like 75% of my max force and still get minimum pain (my left hand doesn't have this ability).

I searched about this online and discovered problems like risks of getting arthritis, problems in the wrist joint.

Should I be worried? Do I have to see a doctor?

Is my ability a pretty good one? If yes what martial arts school should I join?

*Sorry about the title. Could not come up with any other
