You should bow to your instructor, count to at least 30 in Japanese, perform a kata, turn your belt around your waste 3 times EXACTLY, scratch, then turn your belt around your waste 3 times in the OTHER direction, perform the same kata but in reverse, count down from at least 30 in Japanese, the bow to your instructor again. Note that if you perform this ritual incorrectly, your teacher/sensei may take it as a sign of you wanting to fight them and they may attack you or they may send the most advanced student to attack you for them.
If you perform the ritual incorrectly and have to fight your instructor and you end up beating them, then you no longer have to perform the ritual and have free reign to scratch your genitals whenever you please and you instructor will have to perform the ritual to you when wanting to scratch his/her genitals.
COMMON PROBLEMS:
(1) "I performed the ritual correctly, but still had to fight the instructor."
In this case, you most likely messed up on the reverse-kata section of the ritual. This happens often and takes some getting used to.
(2) "I performed the ritual incorrectly, but my instructor didn't find me or send anyone else to fight me."
You're going to a McDojo
(3) "I was performing the ritual and I accidentally summoned Satan"
You may have accidentally done the ritual while standing on a Pentagram. Every martial artist will make this mistake at some point. You kinda just have to deal with him until he leaves. It's annoying.
(4) "I don't wish to summon Satan, but my training takes place on a Pentagram."
In this case, instead of counting in Japanese, simply count in Latin. This should counteract the effects of the Pentagram.
(5) "I performed the ritual, but half-way through my genitals stopped itching"
In this case, it's likely some witchcraft was involved.
