MMA or gracie jiu jitsu?

Posted at: 2015-05-07
I looked at both websites.

Go to Cross Rhodes.

The instructor there has good credentials. It appears to be pretty much a one-man band, but that's OK. You'll need to learn BJJ

Rip Tide has no real information on its website . . . which is almost unreadable because it's SEO (search engine optimized). Here's one painful example:

Riptide MMA Striking:

The art of Muay Thai is a great workout, a thrilling sport and an extremely applicable self defense technique all rolled into one. For those that aren’t familiar with Muay Thai, it comes from Thailand. Glorified in many action movies for its devastating power, Thai Boxing incorporates striking with the fists, elbows, knees and feet. Like most competitive full contact fighting sports, Muay Thai has a heavy focus on body conditioning. Thai pad training is a cornerstone of Muay Thai conditioning which involves practicing punches, kicks, knees, and elbow strikes with a trainer wearing thick pads which cover the forearms and hands.

And while starting martial arts young is fine, I'm not sure about having MMA classes for 5-8 year-olds.

Either that, or look around for some legitimate MMA school.

Hope that helps.

Same **** different smell decided which poo smells better to you if it's no gi Gracie's jj and they teach kickboxing its the same a probably a little bit better than going to a mma gym. If I was you I would find one good instructor and one good art you like and focus on it until you turn 18. Most mma gym will not do full contact on all 4 areas striking ground and pound grappling and clinch work. How ever if you find one art say either a striking or grappling one they will get you doing full contact faster but not just that but faster and better sparring quicker than mma will or even if they will do it before you turn like 16 or 18. Find something you like I'd say kickboxing, boxing, judo and bjj are good things to add to wrestling for mma so I'd go for there make shure you find a good club and teacher best of luck.

Either school is good. I think the MMA school would get you ready for MMA faster though. It's also possible that the people who run the MMA school might have more connections for arranging MMA fights for you than the Jiu Jitsu school do.

If you want to be in the UFC you should train at a place that teaches mma. Bu even so you need to train at the right place so that you can be seen and recognized for your talents enough to get a promoter to sign you to the right contract.

If you want to be in the UFC then you should start practicing MMA now, and your age is a good age to start.

thats pretty good schedule, but i am telling you, you wont make it, you will be overtrained and too tired and quit after month or two, start with 2-3 trainigs per week

Ok so first I want to say that I'm 13 years old 5 foot 10 inches and 110 pounds and I want to be in the UFC when I'm older. I do wrestling but I want to do something else at the same time as wrestling. And I have two options gracie jiu jitsu and mma the mma place I am looking at teaches Muay Thai kickboxing and jiujitsu here's the schedule for the mma place

Monday- Muay Thai

Tuesday- jiujitsu

Wednesday- Muay Thai

Thursday- jiujitsu

Friday- sparring

The mma place I want to go to is called riptide mma. The other place I want to go to is called cross rhodes jiujitsu academy and teaches only jiujitsu but also teaches Muay Thai on Wednesdays for one hour so I don't know what to do. Which place do you guys think I should go to.
