That person has no knowledge about judo. He is ignorant concerning judo. You should just ignore those comments as there is no truth in them.
"Anonymous" sounds like they have some knowledge or experience in judo but judo attacks has not been refined for effectiveness against an opponent that knows how to defend himself. I wish I knew whee stuff like that got started because that is not true. If there was a such thing as rolling over in your grave Dr. Kano would after hearing all of the things being said and even done in judo today. Judo was created with maximum efficiency with minimum effort. It is supposed to mutual welfare and benefit. People have lost sight of this. Judo is supposed to allow a person even if they are smaller or not as strong to still be able to defend themselves without using power, size, or strength. They would use physics. This is the kazushi. Then the mutual welfare and benefit is not about competing and training with a fully resistant partner. It is about you must train with a partner. In doing so you and you partner both learn and improve. This is the mutual welfare and benefit.
Aon I agree talk is cheap. But that person don't need to challenge a senior or master. A white belt would easily take on a person with that much lack of knowledge.
What he said sounds nice (even though it is extremely inaccurate), but in reality, it's not that easy. We can all say what we can or would do until we are dealing with someone trying to hurt us. Judo is a very effective form of fighting.
There are no superior styles that can guarantee you a victory. It always comes down to the individual.
Judo attacks have been refined for effectiveness against an opponent that knows how to defend himself.
If your opponent can't defend himself, you may freely sweep him any way you imagine. if your opponent is ignoring you, giving you his side, he is most vulnerable to a wide array of attacks.
I beg your pardon that we have no attacks specific for this position, that's because the opponent is completely defenseless and anything will work.
Talk is cheap. Have the "dude" challenge a senior or the master and find out.
Hello grandmasters and seniors. A dude from another style came in and criticized judo saying that majority of throws like shoulder throw, hip throw etc, are only useful from the back if someone grabs you as you should never purposefully turn your back to your enemy and he said they can strike with their arms.
He also said he would not try foot sweeps as you still operate at 90 degrees to your opponent between a square stance and that krav maga is superior than all oriental martial arts?
I was wondering if judo can be applied at any other angles? e.g. Like osoto gari where you are at 180 degrees to the side of your attacker?
