Jason Bay: What the hell happened?

He should have stayed in Boston. Fenway was built for him. Injuries got him in NY.

Probably, it is because of his age, injuries, and lack of production in pitcher ballparks. Really? He went to Seattle? Jason Bay would have prolong his career if he has stayed in Boston. He swing can easily do well in small Fenway park unlike Citifield, where the outfield fences are so far away.

Bay had two concussions and a broken rib while playing with the Mets so the head knocks are probably what did him in. Joe Mauer still hasn't come back from the concussion he had last year and Justin Morneau was useless for a few years because of concussions.

Injuries

Bay retired just before the start of this season after being released by Seattle last August. But how did such a promising career go bad so fast?

Bay was the 2004 National League Rookie of the Year with Pittsburgh and had at least 30 homers and 100 RBI in four of his first six seasons in the majors. He played well for Boston after being traded there in 2008 -- he had a career high 36 homers and 119 RBI in 2009 -- but things went South after he signed as a free agent with the Mets in 2010.

He averaged just 89 games, nine home runs, and 36 RBI over his last four seasons, and was just 35 when he retired.

So what happened? Was he jinxed by signing with the Mets, since he suffered several injuries while playing for them, or did he simply quit trying after signing a deal that put almost $43,000,000 in his pocket during the three years he was with the Mets?
