Is too late to start baseball? Or any sport?

It is probably too late for you to be in a league with a high skill level, such as a community college level, since all or most of those players started playing organized baseball at a very young age and have had the opportunity to developed their skills over the years. However, it is never too late to join a league at a level equal to your skills where you can also enjoy playing the game.

Even though you have never played organized baseball, if you have exceptional athletic abilities and raw talent, playing at the community college level might not be out of the question.

Well here is the thing.... you have to eat, sleep, drink baseball. If you want to get good at it you have to get practice. Go to a training facility, learn how to throw and hit. Dont listen to the guy Will, baseball is a hard sport to learn. But it is possible. its never too late. My brother started when he was 17 and he got a scholarship to Auburn University. But that was his life when he started. Baseball is a skill sport that WILL consume you. Im currently a closer on our Varsity baseball team at my high school, and it takes up a lot of time. Basically you have to make a choice: Baseball or Band. Your choice.

Good Luck, Lee

Baseball is just as easy to pick up as soccer. You could pick it up, but I'm not so sure if a community college would let you on if you've never actually played on a team before. But if you practice throwing the ball, going to a batting cage and also practice the correct batting stance and swing, you might make it. Just make sure you have good hand and eye coordination, crucial to baseball.

Lastings Milledge didn't start playing baseball until he was in college. He made the major leagues and is currently a good player in Japan - that makes him one of the 1,500 or so best baseball players in the world.

Earl Averill didn't play baseball until he was in his 20's. Same with Buck Leonard. That was a different time, of course.

If you are athletic as you say, football would be your best bet to excel in as basketball takes a lot of time playing to become unconsciously competent. In baseball just learning how to catch long fly balls can be time consuming at first until you become unconsciously competent. It depends on how big your desire is and if you are willing to put in the time to get good at these two sports. Now with football, say you want to be a wide-receiver, do you have good speed?(Not blazing speed, just good speed) Are you good at faking the pants off of the defender who is guarding you? Do you have good hands? If the answer to these three questions is yes, you can become a very good wide receiver or running back in football in a very short time. Good luck!

Play intermurals.

I am 18 years old and enrolled at the community college near me. I've always regretted not playing sports and I really hate myself now because I never really tried. Now I'm really wanting to play sports and in particular, baseball. I am pretty athletic and I march drum corps in the summer months. Also, I'm a music education major so I'm not really sure how sports and music stuff go together. Because Music Ed major takes up all your time and I'm sure baseball takes up all the time in the world as well...

What I'm asking is... Is it possible for me to pick up a sport at 18 and be pretty good at it? I'm athletic and I've played catch and I've played baseball once in my life but with my dad and stuff. I've never played on an actual team. And is it possible to balance the rigorous curriculum of a music ed major at a university and also play sports. Doesn't necessarily have to be baseball. That's just the sport right now that has been on my mind for a couple of days.

So really the question is now is that is it possible to do any sport in college when I started late?
