Sijo Adriano Emperado created his interpretation of Kenpo Karate which he called Kajukenbo. The original version of Kajukenbo did not have katas. Sijo Emperado wanted the other martial artists to recognize Kajukenbo, and back in the 1950's, other martial arts had katas. So Sijo Emperado created katas so that Kajukenbo would resemble the other martial arts.
So do other martial arts community, more specifically the Japanese martial arts community recognize Kajukenbo, I am not really sure. I am sure that they acknowledge that Kajukenbo practitioners trained in the traditional manner are very good martial artists.
As for the practitioners themselves, we don't really care if other martial artists recognize us or not. We do our own thing. Kajukenbo practitioners used to have a reputation for being hardcore martial artists, until the McDojos opened up.
You are asking about a number of styles, not one style. Many people think that Karate is all the same and is only one style. Taekwondo has at lest 75 different styles. Jujitsu has hundreds of different styles. I could go on and on. bottom line here is there are 30 or more style that use the term Kenpo, Or Kempo to describe them. All are different styles. I'm not sure what you are asking by, are they recognized by the Japanese. And all Kenpo or Kempo styles do not come from Okinawa. And many styles of Karate were actually called Kenpo or Kempo at one time. So the question does not make any sense. But why would it matter if the Japanese recognized any martial art? They are not any more valid than any other country as far as deciding what is valid or not.
It should. It is my understanding that the Shorinji-ryu lineage is based on the Chinese Shaolin Temple Kempo, origin of Chinese Kempo. However, I would like to get an official listing of recognized Karate styles and schools in Okinawa as my knowledge on that is somewhat obscured by what is fact and have not been able to find any reliable source.
Master oyama learnd martial arts in China, Okinawa and any more.
but today's Chinese kenpo has become to wreckage. this is our recognition.
Karate is real .[kyokushin] means [Limit of reality].
ANYTHING If you beat the enemy.
I don't mean does it work or not but is it recognized by the japanese community since it has roots in Okinawa.
