he had so much enthusiasm for the game that he engaged in the ONLY behavior that would result in his being permanently exiled from it.
And when the ban is called "Permanently Ineligible" there is no such thing as long enough.
And compassion shouldn't enter into it. MLB should only reinstate Rose if they feel he can be trusted to work for an MLB club.
Seriously no what he did was serious, and I don't think there has ever been a player, manger, etc that has gambled, or made a bet with gamblers for their team to win, as ever been forgiven at some point. And Pete Rose will never be forgiven, just like him ever making the MLB baseball Hall of Fame. Look at the 1919 Chicago Black Sox that was paid by gamblers to throw the 1919 World Series. And each every one of the players, or anybody that knew of the scandal were banned for life. It wouldn't be right for other banned people if Major League Baseball forgave Pete Rose, and not them, or the families of those players of the ones that are dead today, even if there any living family members. And all of these people have barred from induction into Baseball's Hall of Fame. Pete Rose will never be forgiven, and the only way it will happen is in your dreams, and he will live the rest of his life without even getting off the banned list, or getting into Baseball's Hall of Fame. If there was a Hall of Shame, that is where he would belong him and everybody else.
Absolutely not .. Everybody associated with baseball knows the penalty for doing
what he did. Pete committed such acts regardless thinking he was above the law
and is crying like the boy who cried wolf. He can go and "cry a river" for all I care.
Go right ahead. There's plenty of fellow Rose apologists and fans and groupies and enablers to join you in lockstep.
It won't make any difference. Major League Baseball has imposed permanent sanction upon Rose, with incontrovertible merit, and "permanent" has not yet expired.
The pro-Rose faction continues to hold his career in much higher regard (and recount it with a much larger helping of fiction) than Rose himself did, since he is the one and the only one who trashed it.
Bad decisions can have bad and lasting consequences.
Betting on the game is the #1 cardinal sin and there is signage in EVERY clubhouse to that effect and has been since long before Rose started playing. He knew what would happen if he got caught.
I mean, why aren't you asking if it's time to forgive Shoeless Joe and let him get put in the HOF?
Forgiveness presupposes repentance. Rose still has never really changed his ways. He still thinks he's the victim instead of the victimizer. Until he truly changes his ways, MLB has no choice but to leave his suspension in place-permanently.
Heavens, no! Are you out of your MIND! Don't you remember, his betting on his team's games nearly put an explosive end to the universe! How could anyone with a sound mind dare to even *think* of forgiving him? He is a monster is what he is, a *monster*, not a human being who isn't perfect, but a monster who set out to kill all sentient life!
God can forgive him. MLB has to keep him banned.
Nope. Never.
Yesssss!!!! It's been long enough and all he did was bet and not do PEDs
Pete Rose had perhaps as much enthusiasm for baseball as anyone who ever played the game. Has he not suffered enough? Isn't there something Major League Baseball could do to forgive Pete Rose? Did he really deserve the baseball equivalent of the death penalty? I think it's time to forgive him. He deserves some compassion. He's been locked out long enough.
not yet. not ever.
and how do you know he's been locked out long enough?
Yeees! How can arguably the best hitter to ever play the game not be in the HOF? It's not like he was throwing the games or anything.
No! Never!
It will NEVER be time to forgive what he did.
