When used as an adjective (as in "favorite team") the word "favorite" means "Liked or preferred above all others; regarded with special favor." Having two teams that you like equally means that neither can be the favorite.
BTW- the fact that you would root for one over the other in an ALCS indicates that you do NOT like them equally and should not consider your interest in them as equal .
You can have 30 favorite teams. In football my favorite team changes. It's the team playing the Dallas Cowboys. It can be a little hairy though. Last year both teams I rooted for made the WS but the team I liked better lost the WS and that can be pretty hard. Think about what would happen if the Red Sox played the White Sox and the White Sox won. You might think differently.
No not in my opinion. I'm a die hard Red Sox fan. I would never even think about liking another team. I would only be loyal to one team. No matter how good, or bad they do I will always be sticking with them. I just could never support more than one team. Thats just my opinion.

I have a favorite AL team and a favorite NL team. Within the same league you can have a 1 and 1A like you seem to do. I suspevt part of the desire for the CWS is that they swept the NYY.

for about 4-5 years, i have been a diehard red sox fan but now ive been following the white sox and buying their merchandise ( a hat and a shirt). So its it ok two have TWO favorite baseball teams.
If they ever play each other in the ALCS, ill still root for the red sox
