Is Lester headed back to Beantown this winter?

Yes. John Henry is not to afraid to spend money. In the meantime they got a hitter who's stats ( 17 HR's and .256 BA) will improve greatly in Boston with that left field wall and the temperature not cooling off until 5 :00 AM vs. the 4th inning in Oakland which they say slows down balls hit in the air and maybe over the fence. So it was a smart move for Boston.

Boston is not going to pay more than $70M for him and Lester will get more than $70M from someone. I think Mike's answer of 5 yr. $110M is in the ballpark of what Lester will get from someone on the free agent market. I don't see the Red Sox spending that kind of extra money when they offered him 4 yr. $70M this season.

He'll end up on the Yankees, they will be a big player for him, with Jeter retiring that free's up a ton of money to go after Lester.

He'll be heading back after the World Series to clear out his Beantown area apartment.

Probably 5 year, $110 million contract which Oakland will not sign

The Cubs will be in the market (FA) for pitching next off season, could go there.

No, if bos really wanted him they would have re-signed him

I sure hope so! Pay him what he deserves!

Lester's a free agent after this season and he said, as recently as last week, that he would be open to re-signing with the Red Sox this winter.

So a good that everyone is congratulating Billy Beane on could wind up being better for the Sawks, especially if Oakland fails in their World Series bid again.

Do you think Boston has a good shot at bringing Lester back? How much will it take to land him (he turned down a 4 yr./$70M offer from Boston before the trade)?
