How is the ju jitsu?

is the ju jitsu a good martial art?? Not BJJ but the traditional Ju jItsu...

is it good for defense? and for the attack??

It depends on the style and the scope of the training. There are a couple of very good koryu (traditional) jujutsu schools around, but I think the majority that you will find are gendai (modern) jujutsu schools that are either derived from judo (like BJJ) or another classical system. Keep in mind that many but not all koryu are concerned with the preservation of the art form, and as such many of the techniques are in a historical context (e.g., battlefield grappling, fighting against an armed opponent, etc.). Some traditional arts, such as Araki-ryu, are quite focused on applying their art within a modern context, and in fact require BJJ or wrestling experience as a pre-requisite to even begin training with them. Ultimately, there are many different styles of both modern and classical jujutsu and I can say there is significant variation between styles so it would be impossible to apply a blanket statement regarding the efficacy of "jujutsu" broadly.

Japanese Jujitsu refers to about 1,000 different styles. Among the most popular forms of Japanese Jujitsu are Kenpo Jujitsu, Daito Ryu Aikijujitsu, Danzan Ryu Jujitsu, and Atemi Ryu Jujitsu. The style is as good as the instructor teaching it, and the student who is learning it.

Many modern law enforcement agencies borrow heavily from traditional Japanese Jujitsu. You can usually tell if a technique came from Japanese Jujitsu if it involves standing wrist, hand, or finger locks, and throws.

Yes it has both and is capable of dealing with most situations one might encounter.

That said, Really??? Our resident know-it-all has enough experience and has fought most if not all styles of Jujitsu ? There are hundreds of styles. (in my life I have only been able to witness a hand full of the many styles) And were the few you sparred even intermediate students? (intermediate to me is 3rd to 4th dan) Come on how can anyone take your assessment serious?

...

Nope. If you had to take jujutsu take BJJ but if you want real applicable forms take hapkido, muay thai or arnis.

yea if you wanna turn someone into a pretzel they have plenty of moves for that
