How do i get my wrists stronger?

As Shaeeck said, you can't get your wrist stronger.

The grip strength muscles are forearms. While Jos.H's exercises are similar to the ones I use when I work out, here is something worst looking into:

Even the 80's are hard! I am having trouble getting used to them. And I have a decent amount of grip strength.

And BTW: Grip strength may help you in grappling, but it will not prevent you from getting thrown by someone who has wrestled a very long time.

(edit): One last thing: Wrestling with someone better than you will make you better. It does you no good to wrestle with people you can easily beat.

Pugspaw is correct. The wrist is not your problem. The issue is that your grandpa has more experience and skill is superior to yours. If I grab you and can control your wrist I have you. It has nothing to do with strength.

There are exercises that you can do that will stretch and strengthen the muscles, the tendons and ligaments around the wrist. However these things will not stop your grandpa from beating you. You will need to get better at defense and improve technique instead of relying in muscle strength.

Exercise:

Your wrists are not the problem. The problem is your grandfather knows how to do things you do not know how to stop or escape. That only means you have much to learn yet. You should also be careful stating that you have a lot of knowledge of the ground game. It tells me that you have assessed your own abilities and do not realize that you are not a good judge of your own abilities or knowledge. The problem with knowledge is you can't know how much you don't know. If you keep training, in a few years you will see exactly what that means.

...

Being Native American does NOT give anyone any sort of inherent strength.

How ridiculous.

I don't trust you....because I know that is a load of buffalo s**t. Its not based in any sort of fact or science.

I've broken plenty of bones. Nose three times. Elbow. Knee twice. Fingers. Toes.

Just like many, many, many other Natives.

Kid....the Pottawotomie and Ojibwe are of the same Nation. We're cuzins.

Years of hockey and snowboarding.

Do this around 3 to 4 times a week

3 sets of 10 (first week)

3 sets of 15 (other weeks)

Wrist Curls

Reverse Wrist Curls

Wrist Rolls

Wrist Rotations

you shold be on par with youre gramps in no time

dont know what they are (exersises look em up in google)

It is IMPOSSIBLE to get your wrist stronger. It is a joint.

You are being thrown around because he has better control of your joint. I have been grappling and wrestling all my life and let me tell you a wrist lock hurts just as much today as it did when i was a child. you can exercise the forearms as much as you want and you can train grappling for years and it does make you more aware of avoiding being caught in a lock or throw but it does not make your wrist any stronger.

If we could make our joints stronger then every grappler on the planet would be strengthening their joints and grappling would be useless.

EDIT: The exercises that Jos.H has mentioned in No way shape or form will strengthen the wrist all they can do is strengthen the extensor carpi radialis longus, abductor pollicis longus, extensor pollicis longus, flexor carpi radialis, flexor pollicis longus, extensor carpi ulnaris, flexor carpi ulnaris, extensor digitorum and extensor digiti minimi muscles which help control the wrist.

Once again the "Wrist" can NOT be strengthened as it is a joint which is simply the connection place for 2 bones to create "MOVEMENT" not "STRENGTH".

grap those booster cables for your car

and do like 500 each hand

Do heavy Deadlifts

I kinda mess around with my grandpa submission wrestling but he just grabs my wrist and controls and submits me pretty easily and i have alot of knowledge of ground game. how do i get my wrists stronger so i wont get thrown around. he grew up on a farm and has the natural strength since he is full or almost full native american. i hate being ragdolled so somebody tell me how to get stronger in my wrists.
