How could I learn to fight?

Great answer (and face) by Russell.

You can't learn martial arts on your own. If you want to learn self defense, go and sign up at a martial arts school. Go to the Internet and find a list of schools in your area. Visit the ones that interest you and take some free trials. Then, choose the art with a good instructor (important) and that you enjoy and you will be all set as long as you train correctly. And you will most likely be training with other adults. Good luck.

I could give you all my knowledge in a book and send it to your house in the mouth of the delivery bird from dumbo. And it would be like reading Chinese. You would be like this:

You see, you must make the journey yourself! Discover what styles you do and don't like. I recommend you try a variety of them, then stick with the one you like best. Learn a grappling art (judo, aikido, hapkido, juijitsu) and a standup (karate, muay thai, taekwondo).

There are usually 3 catagories: beginner, intermediate, advanced. There are also usually three groups: 4(or 6) to 12, 13-17, 18-∞.

I will set you on the path I set myself on. Go online and look up dojo's in your area or in the yellow pages. But first, research and find a art you are interested in.

From there, its all about the journey. Remember, anyone can buy a blackbelt. All a belt is, is an garment for holding ones pants up.

Join a class and yes, there are adult beginner classes and 19 is a good age to start. If you think kids karate classes are the same as adult karate classes you are mistaken. Kids should never be taught in martial arts what adults are being taught and adults should learn a whole lot more than what kids learn. So don't feel too left out.

Well...To be honest, I am 15 in exactly 10 days..I might seem Young and have NO experience...But I have been doing MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) for 4 years...I fell in love with it as SOON as I watched Chuck Liddell beat Tito Ortiz...I know it would be weird that You're older than Me, but My brother "Jason" (He is ALSO 19) taught Me A LOT because My dad had died...So he taught Me how to do Muay Thai, Judo, Jiujitsu, and My PERSONAL best and favorite...Boxing...

dont use karate it will be like kids and a 19 year old teen white belt go muay thia or boxing u see boxing is used in self defence more the karate cz in fights ur ganna punch not use legs go muay thia it contains knees albows punches and even head and legs good luck

Martial Arts are designed to be fought in the ring or in the tournament where there are judges, referee and there are rules. In street there is no rules, no boundary, everything goes. If you want to learn how to fight and defend yourself I suggest Krav Maga. The most important exercise is to practice the techniques 1000x

I used to know a guy who did karate and he said that you have to learn from a trusted sensei with years of accumulated knowledge. His first sensei was the grandmaster from Okinawa and his father banished him from the dojo and became the new grandmaster of Okinawa karate fighting. Together they learn how to unlock the chakra gates and hope defeat the Devil's team of elite fighters.

I grew up never being out in karate as a kid so I never learned most kids I know, know how to fight well and I'm tired of being the defenseless one. I'm 19. Wat should I do to learn self defense as a befinner. Are there adult beginner classes or do I have to start off with little kids
