How can i start doing mma?

To do MMA, you need to know wrestling, Brazilian jiu jitsu, and Muay Thai or kickboxing.

Some MMA gyms just teach MMA (which includes all that). Other gyms teach each one separately. I prefer the second, but there are some good gyms which just teach MMA. Find the best gym you can. That means the ones with the best, most experienced instructors.

Many (maybe most) will take 15 year olds.

MMA is a sport--a style of fighting. The UFC is one organization that puts on MMA bouts. There are plenty of others. At the national level, there's Bellator. Then there are hundreds on the local and regional level. Where I live (Northern Virginia) there are 5-6 promotions--Operation Octagon, Lights Out Combat, Barbarian Fight Club, and others.

No belts in MMA. BJJ has belts. Muay Thai generally doesn't (though some places award belts). Wrestling does not. Judo (which some people use to build MMA skills) does have belts. Grappling does not have belts.

Sparring: Yes. Hopefully, a lot.

Hope that helps.

MMA is essentially a sport, and I doubt seriously that there is a junior class. I doubt if any MMA training gym that was reputable at all would take on such a young student.

If you are seriously interested in trying out professional matches when you are an adult, your can easily start training in popular arts like Brazilian JuJitsu and boxing or kickboxing which will give you a basic grounding in the grappling/submission aspects and the striking aspects.

Now, for the fatherly advice..... You do not want to get involved. Oh, I know... If you're a juicy young man who wants to prove how "bad" he is it's no doubt very tempting and glamorous.

There is a very high chance you will suffer knockouts and concussions. These are very bad news, in case you don't read the news. Major scandal in many professional sports. Early-onset Alzhiemers....Parkinson's disease.... All those good things. No fun.

Then there's the professional aspect. Drug use is rampant according to all the sports writers. All the prize money ends up in the pockets of the promoters and trainers and organizers.... The fighter gets what's left.

Not a good career choice.

By signing up in a MMA gym.

Some gyms do take 15 year olds, call them first.

MMA is a combat sport where you can kick, punch, elbow, knee, and grapple both standing and on the ground, submissions are allowed.

There are no belts.

Sparring is very common, and a mayor part of training.

MMA is a sport where you train and improve just like any other sport. The option of competing is up to the individual but usually for minors there aren't any major championships that reward really high. Most MMA training involves sparring, technique application, things like that.

Go to an MMA gym.

There is no belts, at all. Sparring should be common. And is Muay Thai and Jiu Jutsu together. I don't recommend for street fights with it.

My first question is what would i have to do to get started. Im 15 years old will they take a 15 year old thats just starting. Also can you explain to me in more detail what mma is besides ufc. Do they have belts, sparing and things like that
