Why would they fix that fight? In order to guarantee a Jones win, Gustafsson would have to be in on it and try to not finish Jones or make him look bad. Plus, the judges aren't employees of the UFC, they are employed by the athletic commissions. The theory that it was fixed doesn't make any sense and has no supporting evidence.
In fact, other media sources scored the fight for Jones: Sherdog, Bloody Elbow, and Fightmetric at least. I thought it was a close fight, but I gave it to Jones.
I think people were so surprised that Jones didn't dominate from bell to bell that they're remembering Gustafsson in a more favorable light than reflects reality. It was hardly a clear domination by either fighter. Jones clearly won 4&5, Gus won 1, but 2&3 are in dispute.
The judges that scored it 49-46 (4 rounds to 1) for Jones is SMOKING CRACK.
Gustafsson at worst won at least 2 rounds, but really Gustafsson won 3-2. 4th round, Jones landed that one elbow that stole the round after Gus was dominating. 5th round Gus was just gassed but still put up a fight....the only thing that beat Gus was his being tired....other than that...he was killing Jones.
Gustafsson is a real champ! Not Dirty Bones Jones.. so mad. Not cause of Jones (don't hate him) but yea Gusta was waaaay better than Jones. To have Jones win ? nah . bs
To be honest, I believe Gustafsson won the fight. I had him winning 3-2.
Having wrote that, it was a very close fight. There needs to be an immediate rematch.
i didnt see the whole fight but i saw the highlights ... i think in the highlights looked like jones won but thats all i saw but at least he gave it to him... ;)
