I will keep this short bc this question is asked a-lot and end with a mind blowing and wise saying that rings true:
NO!
The better fighter will win.
Height, style, weight, strength, race, sex, etc, etc, have nothing to do with it. The better fighter will always win. Plain and simple.
Sure they have what we call an advantage. But at the end it means nothing if this taller, bigger, guy can't defend himself.
EX:
We have one girl in our gym who is around 120lbs. Trained pretty much daily in her art since she was four. She not only beats but outclasses our professional male fighters who are usually 165 to 185lbs of solid muscle.
Another example; Bruce Lee was a small guy. 135lbs. He was a good fighter.
Demetrius "Mighty Mouse" Johnson is 5ft 3 and a hell of a fighter.
So no.
The taller person has a much longer arm reach and will be able to contact with the smaller person before the small person gets to grips with the tall person.
If you are the small person then the best thing to do is slide down on the ground between the tall person legs and hit him hard in his "privates".
It all depends on the skill of the fighter. If the shorter fighter is more skilled than they will win. Same goes for the taller fighter. I've seen and sparred with taller people who were better and worse than me. The ones that were better than me were able to win pretty easily, the ones who I was more skilled than would do worse than me when we sparred. It's a question of skill and strategy.
No. Have you ever noticed the difference between the fighting styles of heavyweight boxers and bantamweight? Those big guys might pack a knockout punch but they move much more slowly in comparison, if the smaller guy can avoid getting hit too often then he can get several punches in for one of the slower big guy's.
It's all about balance and leverage. In judo, the taller guy (almost) always loses. (Almost, because some taller guys are skilled in judo, too.) The taller guy has a higher center of balance. So he can be knocked over easier. A short guy can throw him clear over his shoulder.
No, I used to watch boxing and the fighter with the longer reach advantage does not always win. If the shorter guy gets in close and into the range he is most powerful at, the guy with the longer reach is no longer in his most comfortable range.
No. Many times a smaller person will beat a large person. There is not always in anything concerning fighting.
...
Short answer: No
Long answer: I refer to AKBAN.
well, does he? and i don't mean lanky tall guys. i mean 6 foot 200lbs vs 6"4 210lbs guy. is there any skill involved on who wins? or is it just the taller guy?
