It looks like it is possible. You don't really apply you have to go to a scouting camp to try out, Find out when they have scouting camps and then go.
I do not believe an MLB team has held a tryout since the 50s. However, you can play baseball in high school, then again in college, and if you play well enough, you get drafted. You then have to get promoted through the 6 levels of Minor Leagues until you reach the MLB.
Yes anybody can tryout for the for the Mlb. But you have to be really good. There's a guy who I know and was the batboy for him in college summer baseball played shortstop for a D1 and lots of records for that school and he did not get drafted. Our season and he also is still looking to get dined by an MLB team.
