Boxing vs Brazilian Jiu Jitsu? Which should I learn first?

For fighting: Boxing.

For fitness: Either is OK. Best for fitness would be wrestling.

Size doesn't matter. Both have weight categories, so if you were competing you'd be matched up with people your own weight and roughly your own height. Example: My son is 5'2" (and 23 years old). You're not smaller than that. He's done extremely good at Brazilian jiu jitsu (he's a solid-to-advanced purple belt). He's also quite good at Muay Thai. And he's an MMA fighter with a 4-0 record. So in competition, you'll be going up against people about your own size. In practice, it doesn't much matter either. It's really the size of other people who are practicing. And it won't hurt if you practice with people larger than you. My son walks around at 140 lbs. Most of his practice partners are 160-180 lbs.

Hope that helps.

Bjj cause most fights will end up on the ground. However, no matter what type of martial arts discipline u learn if u don't have any size on you: You're still gonna be relatively easy to handle due to your physical size. So, you should add a weightlifiting routine to your training to compensate for your size....

Do bot hat the same time! If not, do MMA because it will give you the skills needed for both arts. The best course of action in my opinion would be to do Boxing/BJJ (well actually Muay Thai would be better to train than Boxing), then do MMA after a few years.

The order is not important. The quality of instruction is what matters. Go see which has a better coach and learn that technique first.

BJJ has the slower learning curve, so that is what you would want to start the earliest.

You should go to an mma class cause they can teach you both. You should learn both at the same time they are both important for learning how to fight.

I'm 15. I want to know which I should learn first.

Which one would help me get more fit? And which one would be better in a one on one fight?

Right now I'm kind of leaning towards the BJJ due to the fact that I'm a pretty small dude and it's designed for small people. Which do you think would be better?
