Best martial art for me?

When you decide to begin training in martial art you have some questions you have to answer for yourself. Are you looking for a sport to play, an art to dedicate a lifetime to, or a quick fix method of self defence? Some combination of that perhaps? Most of us are, or were all three at times. Where do your priorities lie? You must first decide martial art , or fighting sport. The two are worlds apart, although they overlap in several areas, their mindset, and intent are opposite. You have to know also what is available to you. If you have Uechi-Ryu, and Bak Mei in your area, wanting to do TKD would not help you. Of the available options you must decide which one(s) interest you. Then you have to decide (take your time, it's important) which available instruction is the one for you. You can change or quit if you don't like it, but better to stay with the program right through (providing the program is a good one) for the best training. Style-hopping has in my experience cost many a martial artist their potential, so choose wisely, nobody here can tell you what to do for you. So do your homework well. Talk to instructors and students, watch classes, take 'free introductory' classes, make your decision. One more thing, good luck

Many are made for multiple though it might only give you an edge over someone not trained rather than actual make sure you win. I would tell you to look at any traditional style which is more interested in forms and crippling an opponent than the point sparing. Most styles have some benefit but I would tell you to avoid any chains as they tend to be better at business than martial arts.

To see what works for you, find at least 4 places to visit on a tryout basis and do not sign anything until you have visited a minimum of 3. Avoid contracts and know that the "Today special deal" is a crock used to sucker in people.

As for stealth and intimidation, these are just games that can get you into more trouble. I personally like to have my students smile when they practice fight techniques.

"i also like stealth and intimidation."

Ever heard of the G.Zimmerman style? It's pretty lethal. The good thing is even if you killed someone you'd probably be acquitted.

if you like the weapons incorporated in martial arts, then the best one is the kung fu.

Probably take a look at Krav Maga

I'm looking for a martial art to join and i can't decide which martial art i want to join. I want a martial art that is good for taking out multiple people and i like the idea of weapons incorporated into the martial art. i also like stealth and intimidation.
