it requires an incredible amount of strength, agility, speed, and stamina.
First of you have to learn how to skate , these professionals have been doing it since they were 3 years old. Running doesnt compare to skating because it comes naturally to everyone, wheres skating requires more balance, coordination, stopping and starting is more physically exhausting.
You also have to have great stick work dangle around your opponents while avoiding 5 guys that are trying to take your head off. Players have to block 100 mph slapshots, take skate blades to the face and play through grueling injuries.
Its a very brutal sport.
Whats your pick?
agree hockey is hard, I play myself, but you over exaggerated it you don't commonly take skate blades to the face and only a handful of people ban shoot over 100. I think hitting a baseball is the hardest action to do in sports, but golf probably takes the most overall skill to play and be good.
Ha! It may take more skill to skate than to run but you are definitely not going I find as many people who could run a marathon in under 2:15 or 100m in under 10s than people who could ice skate, and as for the taking a skate blade to the face, well try taking a real blade to the face, in fencing when training people lose there eyes, in competitions they may have helmets but there isn't anything covering their balls and those swords move at around about 300m/s! (Well they're so fast that we haven't actually managed to calculate the speed but they are believed to have broken the sound barrier) but that is definitely harder to block than 100mph slapshots. 5 guys trying to take you head off? Try playin rugby, you'll have more people than that all smashing you to the floor-resulting in a very likely broken back or neck.
There are more skilful sports but fencing is certainly more skilful than ice hockey, the fencer have to be constantly moving very fast in heavy thick hot gear for hours on end with hardly any rests, they have to parry attacks moving at about 6 times that of the slapshots being blocke in ice hockey and the technical stuff/tactics is like playing a game of chess against the smartest person on earth while you avoid being stabbed.
College style wrestling. It is definitely the most physically demanding sport. you have to learn how to physically dominate your opponent. You have to change your tactics every second your opponent does anything. It is also the most Masculine sport to.
DANCE!!!!
