Would boxing and wrestling be a good combination?

yes that is a good base

as any pratictioner (including myself) has found out

wrestle the boxer and box the wrestler which in essence

the jeet kun do principle of bruce lee which he incorporated into a style

dont forget the three aspects though ,striking ,clinch and ground fighting

No it will not mess up your brain. Unless you compete at a really high level you don't really risk anything. There are injuries in every sport. Soccer has a lot of knee injuries, hockey has their injuries and so on.

As for the combination. Yes it's a good combination. But martial arts won't make you a supreme @sskicker. You won't be able to take out 4 guys while being tied to a chair. And it will still hurt getting smacked in the face. Boxing is great but there are no guarentees in life.

Boxing and wrestling are a great combination. I would put my money on someone who has a boxing & wrestling background over any "karate-type" of martial artist of similar size and age in a street fight.

And the fact that you have wrestling as your base is fantastic; wrestling was at my base also, and I've learned for myself, and you can see this in most street fights, the one who controls the position is the one who controls how much damage can be done. Wrestling is great for getting and maintaining the dominant position.

Yeah that's pretty good.

It's got good punching control and ground control.

I dont mean is this the best mix out there or anything like that. Im just asking if theyd stop me from ever getting my *** kicked in a street fight. I already do wrestling and I used to never consider it something Id use in a street fight but I was rough housing with one of my friends and when he went to punch me I managed to take him down really fast and I realized he had no idea what to do from the ground. The reason I want to learn boxing is well obviously most street fights Ive seen are all punches so learning to punch harder and faster seems smart. Also it just seems like a fun sport. Does it really have long term effects on your health though? People always say itll mess up my brain when Im older. I do want to spar and compete if I do boxing.
