Will I need an ear guard for Brazilian jujitsu?

You probably won't "need" one, but you can get one if you want.

Truthfully, the odds of your ears "looking like chewed bubble gum" are pretty slim. Cauliflower ear happens sometimes, but if you get it drained, there's little to no noticeable damage. I honestly think you're overplaying the chances of you getting it, and how much damage it'll actually do.

That said, if you want to avoid it at all, get some ear guards. And who cares if people laugh at you, honestly?

Totally up to you. Most guys in my gym don't and nobody has cauliflower ear. Only one guy chooses to wear them and they come off frequently. In my opinion, the best way to avoid cauliflower ear is to tap early rather than try to squeeze your head out of locks that are really in tight. It's usually the guys that are too proud to tap in rolling that get it.

I'm not interested in any aspect of Brazilian jujitsu in any way other than the question I've asked so please don't go on about how its not as good as X or it is only wrestling I've read it all before

ALL I want to know is In Brazilian jujitsu should I wear an earguard to stop my ears from looking like chewed bubble gum and if I wear an ear guard will people laugh at me ?
