Why is my sensei tougher on me?

The reason he is so tough on you is because you are a woman, and you are small, both of these factors will make big, strong men think you are an easy target on the street.

He is trying to toughen you up so that if a man like me tries to hurt you or rape you, you will be able to fight back.

What was wrong with the answers to this question when you asked 2 hours prior to this one that you had to ask again? What are you looking for in our answers?

Your quote: "he told me that he can see that deep inside im like a wild animal a badger and that i have to lat it out. "

I have third option and that is that the guy is an @$$ and has to let it out too. While being uke is one thing being called a 'badger' which is an ugly, bitchy animal and a 'wild animal' which is something completely out of control I find no compliment in that and such things have no place in the dojo if martial arts is taken seriously in that school.

Even for the teacher towards a junior student, respect and courtesy needs to be maintained or things can turn pretty ugly pretty quick, especially if you are in a harder core martial art which can get downright dangerous for you. Serious hard core martial art is not horseplay and focus has to be maintained on the techniques 110% at all times especially by the person throwing uke or uke can get hurt very easily and much quicker than you think. Being disrespectful to uke and or the techniques is how accidents happen. You have to make sure that you don't over step your own limits just trying to tough it out.

I too think that you are being bullied. Since this is not asia and you do pay tuition make sure that you are also getting the same instructions as the guys and don't just get thrown around and given 'compliments' as in made fun of. You just proved that you are tough and can take it, now it is time for the instructor to teach you, male chauvinist or not.

I had a male chauvinist teacher too and once we got past the 'testing how tough you are part' he turned out to be my best teacher ever and being the only girl in the dojo as well, after the testing period he did not allow the guys to bully me after that which happened on occasion. Being bullied is different from given a hard work out. I always got a hard work out the same as the guys in that school. Girls in this dojo only came in to either find a guy and then they would leave after a few months or they hated men and tried to take on guys, it was pretty pathetic. So I too understood why he didn't especially like women in the dojo.

Just be careful. My one teacher was definitely the exception and I had my share of teachers who really treated women badly, unfortunately.

Think that he's trying to encourage you, and he sees a potential.

lol belts

more specific please

so I am a 21 year old girl and Im small but fiesty, and stubborn and very stroing.

I started taking martial arts 7 months ago, and it's become the biggest part of my life, I train every day, and think about it in all my spare moments.

I passed by exam with flying colors, and skipped a belt too.

today i had the day off work so i decided to come for the 6 am morning class, and my senior instructor ( who is kind of a chauvinist- but i can hardly blame him since the girls that train are pathetic)

decided to take me as the person he presents the techniques on.

he threw me around the mat for the whole hour, and not lighty i might add, i was sweating and sure i would barf, but I didnt pussy out, even when he asked me if i want to take a break.

My pride wouldnt let me, as im the only girl in that class.

he told me that he can see that deep inside im like a wild animal a badger and that i have to lat it out.

so did he do that to put me in my place or because he sees potential?

he never takes girls out to be ukes, maybe only this one black belt,
