Why are mixed martial artist's legs so thin?

With Jones, it's mostly genetic. Dude is called "Bones" for a reason.

With Kimbo, probably because he trained for looks (upper body) instead of being a good fighter.

Of course, you could take a look at guys like Mirko Filipovic, Ben Henderson, Tyson Griffin, Thiago Alvez, Mark Coleman, Kevin Randleman, Georges St-Pierre, Hector Lombard, Quinton Jackson, Ken Shamrock, Sean Sherk, etc... they don't have "thin" legs.

Genetics play a huge part. MMA fighters come in all shapes and sizes. So does emphasis: a strong "shot" and hard leg kicks generally involve developing the thigh muscles more.

not only the legs, the whole body of a fighter is generally lean and thin.it helps in movement and speed. well there are exceptions also.body mass doesn't matter that much for a fighter.lean body helps in quicker strikes.

They skipped leg day at the gym.

with strength you sacrifice speed ... most fighters would rather be quick on their feet

also, even though they are thin ... they are pure muscle ...

everyone is made diff. some fighters are bigger then others.

Like in the UFC there are so many people with legs that are basically like sticks, Jon Jones and Kimbo slice for example. Both are very strong people and have big torsos so what is wrong with their legs? Surely that would try to build them up for strength. I watched a video where a man (Who didn't even look that in shape) was just kicking Kimbo's legs and they just put out so easy. I'm only asking this question because I'm considering doing mixed martial arts and it is just something that caught my eye.
