Jones is a bad matchup for Silva. Silva relied on his opponents to overextend themselves so he could land a counter-strike; Jones is not prone to this, and would likely strike at Silva from a distance, using his reach advantage. He could also take Silva down pretty much any time he wanted. On his back, Silva would stall, or look for triangles; Jones would drop elbows, and has never been in danger of getting triangled. Silva is ten times the striker, skill-wise, that Jones is, but he has very specific habits that leave him vulnerable to Jones's "style" of fighting.
