Which Martial Art is Best?

In your own personal opinion, which martial art is best?

And why that particular one?

Thankyou.

My personal preference is old world Jujutsu, it is the hand-to-hand combat system of the Samurai. It was used by the Japanese against allied troops during WW2. Because of it's effectiveness the U.S. DOD had U.S. Armed Forces pilots, intel. personnel, and ground troops start it's training under Japanese instructors following the war. That is where my father learned (Intel./ communications NCO), and he is the one that taught me for 12 years.

It's a silly question. There are at least hundreds of different martial styles from all over the world. Some are intended primarily for sports, some for personal/spiritual advancement, some for self-defense practicality.

It's like comparing apples and oranges.

Further, there are many different types of people practicing these arts. A style that suits a chunky, muscular, stocky individual might be totally inappropriate for a tall, lanky fellow with a lot of fast-twitch muscle fiber.

A small, slight woman wanting self defense would be poorly served by some fancy, traditional kung-fu style.

Finally, there are dozens of styles within each major discipline. There are likely at least dozens of karate styles, hundreds of kung fu styles, and hundreds of variations of the Filipino arts... Due to the highly separated nature of the archipelago.

Karate

Samus summed it up for me, but like to add to it, the one that suits your requirements what ever that may be.

your gonna get a lotta people saying it aint the martial art its the practitioner.. personaly tho I think bjj is a MUST.. if u don't know your bjj It don't matter how good your wrestling or boxing is..

One that covers them all.

The one you know.
