Where can I get a customized Tae Kwon-Do blackbelt?

Americans think it's cool to have their names written in Hangul on their belt.

Koreans think it's cool to have their names written in the western alphabet on their belt.

But while showing up with western letters on your belt will impress the younger generation over there, showing up with Hangul characters on your belt (and knowing how to write it freehand, and the pronounciations) will impress the older generation.

So, getting a belt with all Korean on it would be a nice gesture for your Korean hosts. As such, it is not difficult to find a website that will do the printing for you. But, having them get the proper Korean will be the hard part: If you can't write or speak Korean, then doing it online or over the phone will be useless to you, unless you manage to speak to an American/Korean on the other end of the phone who speaks both languages *well*.

Your best bet, therefore, is to ask your instructor. You wouldn't be out of line by asking, and depending on how you approach him or her with your reasoning, it could be flattering.

Do a search on the web for martial arts supplies. This should find you many suppliers, some of them make custom belts. OR you can look up Eosin Panther. They will make any kind of belt you want. Their work is very good. But with any custom belt you will pay a high price for custom work.

...

I would honestly just use the belt you already have. The Koreans will actually be more impressed with the English on your belt than if it was all Korean.

Look online, or ask the people who purchased them where they got them from. Learn kicks, blocks, punches, poomsae and most korean taekwondo words before you go, thats what i would do

I like the black belt blueprint. Owner course is great person. You can read more about hits in http://bit.ly/1nAIXjs

I would say Possum is wrong, but it's true. Don't try to customize your uniform.

Sit down relax take deep breathe drink green tea and hold on there is something called youtube and google.

I am I 1st Dan black belt at a very good taekwondo school. I already have a black belt that I wear, that has my name on it, my 1 bar for 1st dan, and my name in Korean and my schools name.

Now, I am going to Korea to train and study there very soon. My other peers who are also going have purchased back belts somewhere offline and had them custom labeled IN KOREAN with no English.

IDK what they say, but they are very different from the ones we currently wear.

I know when we ordered our original black belts, they came from VISION, a TKD and general martial arts company. Could I place an order somewhere for a Kukkiwon blackbelt? I come from a Kukkiwon school here in the US (World Taekwondo Federation), but there must be a way to order a belt with the Korean headings on it.

Also, as a side question, how much Korean should I know before I go?
