Where can I find a genuine shaolin martial arts experience?

Find a local Shaolin Kung Fu school that has a sister school in China. It's the best way to go. You might not have realistic expectations too. Even the monks now have cell phones and drink Coke.

No there isn't. What you are looking for does not exist. Let me ask you a few questions.

1) Are you buddhist?

2) Do you like meat?

3) Do you like having sex or do you want to have sex one day?

If the answer to those questions is no then you can forget about. You're just like any other stupid kid. The people in those temples are monks. That means religion first. Fighting is secondary at best.

You can pay for some BS tourist experience if you want but I know what you are looking for. You want some small temple in the mountains with a 130 year old grand master who has super natural abilities and speaks in wise sayings all the time? Something like that?

Find a good instructor locally.

Read and study all you can. I'd suggest with the Art of War.

Martial arts "experiences" can be had in many forms. As you've learned what you seek is really isn't available any more.

Even in Okinawa the training is different than it was even 20 years ago. So you can only do the best you can with what's available.

The best champions usually did it by themselves anyway. If you've read a lot you'll begin to notice that a lot of heroes and champions only ever got minimal training from a school then set out to turn themselves into physical monsters. They endured exposure training and self inflicted torture until they could stand through pretty much any kind of attack. That kind of endurance usually intimidated the hell out of their opponent/aggressor/advisary to the point where they just lost focus.

On the internet, I've browsed a few of the most popular temples to study and practice internal and external martial arts in China. I am disappointed to learn that these temples do not push you to your limits, or lead you on the path of a fulfilling life of discipline, challenge, and sacrifice, by leaving everything you have behind in order to harden yourself, as I had expected. Rather, as it seems, the great temples of some of the most practically unbeatable champions of martial arts in the world, have turned into a commercialized, Chinese government controlled, multi-billion dollar vacation resort where you happily hop along using the internet and calling home to talk about your day whenever you like!. There must be some place out there that has what I am looking for, a genuine martial arts experience that will stick with me for the rest of my life, that every determined human deserves.
