first ufc doesnt relese that info so idk how(or why) your counting there cheddar.yes floyd is the greates promoter of all time and the best buisnessman whos a prize fighter.lets compare the number of ppvs a year boxing barely has any and they put way more money into promoting then the ufc does. yea gsp vs silva or jon jones vs silva or jon jones vs cain or pettis vs aldo could do that.
to answer your qusetion it depends on the country and age mma is way more popular in brazil and boxings way more popular in argentina. with ppl under 30 mma is more popular and in a 5-10 years it wont even be question with is more popular dont forget the first ufc was in 93 boxings best days are over and mmas are yet to come

Go ask a older person who is not into sport what is boxing and what is UFC? I bet they all know what boxing is. Kokoro pretty much nailed the answer, im into my martial arts have been for most of my life, but i love watching boxing, lots of my mates are boxers/trainers i have much respect for them, im not sure if your trying to prove some kind of point with your question?, but id have to state that alot of the younger martial artist underestimate boxers by some of the comments about them having less in there arsenal etc actually alot of the MMA guys state that about us traditional martial artist too, but il have to say about the boxers i know....."They do what they do and they do it well".
I believe they talk demographic wise like more people 12-25 watch mma rather than boxing and Internet downloads have changed ppv and money stats go look on pirate bay and see who downloads more mma or boxing its all relative.
boxing has existed for thousands and thousands of years. The egyptian had their own boxing sparing matches. So did the thais, ancient filipinos, pre colonial indonesians, and even the chinese before the industrial age

I say Boxing. First i looked at the richest and highest paid UFC fighter and thats GSP who is worth 25 million and gets 6 million a Fight.. Well sorry but Floyd Mayweather is worth 170 million and gets paid 60 million a fight. Then i looked at the PPV numbers and the UFCs highest ppv total in 2013 was estimated at 900 thousand while Floyd Mayweather vs Canelo Alvarez did 2.2 Million..lol so what arguement can you make for the UFC being more popular than Boxing??? Also what UFC fight can be made that could come even remotely close to Mayweather vs Pacqiuoa or even Mayweather vs Bradly, or even Pacqiuoa vs Canelo???????? i'll answer NONE!!!"
