What is it called?

Possum is right. That is not a Katana. What you are describing is a middle eastern type of sword. That blade is called Damascus steel and the sword that you saw........hm....is it similar to this.?

You seem to be describing Damascus steel, which is made by forging sheets of steel on top of the blade, and working the metal that way, rather than pouring the steel.

There are many examples you should be able to find, if you mention "Damascus steel". Good workmanship is some of the most expensive in the world, so it is not cheap. It was once considered a lost art, and many who've tried to create it never quite got it right. It comes close these days, as a method of creating it seems to have replicated it almost prefectly.

That is junk. Don't believe all the hype people tell you about swords. Especially hype provided by the person selling the junk swords. And Katana were curved for a good reason. Imported from Europe....... Tells me that it is definitely junk. Save your money.

I was at a store called, treasure of the ancient Dragon and they had this one hand forged blade, and it looked so beautiful, it had thus natural circles and swirls of red along the black blade, he said it was quite expensive, and it was a straight katana not curved, and maybe my arms length so about 30-36in, in length and the hilt was a bout a hand in a half, or two, and it's guard was square, he said it was imported from Europe

Can you help me find this blade, or at least a picture, I told my girlfriend about this and she wants to see it.

Thank you
