I'm sure there are some guys like that. Most just love the activity, win or lose, and could care less about what "the world" thinks of them, though. Haven't you ever wanted to be the best at something? Wasn't being the best what mattered, not who knew it? Others are fighting because it's what they're best at, and they can support their family from what they make while fighting. The "macho meathead" guys tend not to last long. If you're doing it for ego, you won't be able to humble yourself to get the correct training.
For some perhaps, for most not. It provides a challenge and something to get paid for that people love.
Could be a way to support the family and loved ones. Some may see it as another job, and a job they love in a terrible economy.
Sometimes. Other times it's just because people enjoy the challenge. Everyone is different.
