Strength vs skill in a fight?

Posted at: 2014-09-13
If it's a real fight. I'd say neither matters. From a survival standpoint. I'd say both are insignificant against group behavior or/with weapons.

If it's an athletic mma fight. I'd say both are important. Skill maybe slightly.....but neither is strength unimportant to enhance execution.

if this boy does have training then you may want to try and talk to him and avoid the fight, if the fight does happen then going to the ground could be a fatal mistake on your part as they are trained for ground work, he could hurt you very bad, I was about the size of this other boy and had been trained, I have been jumped by 3 boys and won, I have been sucker punched by a guy that was a lot bigger than I was with 80-100lb over me when we went to the ground I sent him to the hospital, now he has permanent disabilities for what he tried to do to me, so I recommend you try and work this out and do not fight him,

If both of you worked for me I'd fire you both. Look at it from the employers point of view. He is liable if one of you gets hurt.

Keep your cool. If you have issues with him not doing his job, tell a supervisor and if the supervisor is even halfway on the ball he already knows anyway. You don't get paid enough to take BS from any employee. Let someone handle this kid who gets paid to handle this.

Don't plan on fighting this kid unless you can afford to lose your job. Keep in mind with this economy, your age, job experience 0 and getting fired for fighting, it will be hard for you to get hired somewhere else regardless whose fault you think it is. It takes 2 to fight.

Strength is not knowing how to fight. How to fight is knowing how to fight and your statistics or his don't mean anything in a fight.

Skill would hold higher than Strength, but you still need strength for skill if you want to actually do some damage.

This the martial arts section. We answer questions about martial arts. I am not sure what your post is about. Can you rephrase your question, cutting out the back story?

Simply put, skill trumps strength every time.

It is good to be strong. It is better to be skillful.

It is best to be strong and skillful.

boh are important if hes did legit training id give him the advantage

The smarter fighter wins.

Well even though he's more skilled I think you'll win. He sounds like a fu**in' loser.

BEAT HIS ***

OK First off i'd like to say i think fighting is immature, and i wont be the one to start this fight, if it happens. i will only act in self defense

So basically i flipped out on this kid at work because he is a shitty worker, and literally does nothing. He got really pissed off at me and immediately said, lets fight, while working. the kid went off, telling me all this bullshit. looked like he was gonna throw a punch right there. i just laughed at him and turned away. He still thinks he'll kick my *** in a fight and wants to, which i sorta doubt. First off we arent adults, im 17, hes 16. now i will state some statistics he said he used to do mma several years ago and would be making millions now if he didn't **** up his back, this kid is kinda a bullshitter. but if he does attempt to fight me idk will i get my *** beat?

First off i am

180lb

5'10

15%bf

Bench 230lb

squat 300lb

deadlift over 350lb

4.7 sec 40 yard dash

27 inch vertical jump

im not just a meat head, im not even that bulky. im pretty cut. I dont mean to toot my own horn but im a natural athlete. have never been bad at a sport, except golf! haha. But.... i have never been in a real street fight.... I am always boxing and wrestling with my bro though...

This kid is...

MAYBE 130lb

5'4

skinny, unathletic build

smokes cigarettes

doesnt play sports

comes to work high

has a terrible back that he is always complaining about.

did MMA is middle school

so will i get my *** beat by this kid? i have never fought anyone with a mma background. i know anything can happen but i think worse comes to worst he tries to fight me, starts kicking my ***, i take him to the ground and i should have a significant advantage there. hopefully a fight doesn't happen, but just wondering...
