Sparing much bigger people? (Karate)?

Try combining your punch with the kick, by distracting them with a long range hit, and then immediately use your momentum to drop into range of them. That means instead of kicking and retracting, you hit and then move your weight on the kicking leg, into and towards the foe.

A simple lunge is more energy efficient when combined with a hand strike, vs a superjump and punch.

Since people taller than you have more reach, either you need to fight them at an angle always so they can't use that range, or you need to out maneuver them at long range by stepping in and out, or you need to get close and use your superior leverage to disable their defenses.

Don't worry too much dude, you're still young so the usage of yolo and doing some silly things is no big deal whatsoever. I would advise being careful with the superman punch. Anytime you leave the ground you are leaving yourself open to tons of counters and there's no real way you can block or change your trajectory. As for how to get in, well some things you can try would be combinations. Like a low leg kick followed by a cross or a straight on the down-step. Also try to come in at angles, don't just go straightforward. If they are taller it's easier to slip some of their blows and use a lead in side step to get inside their guard and get to work. One thing is you don't need to be afraid of getting hit. Get in as close as you can and go to work with your strikes. You'll probably get hit but if your moving and getting angles the damage will be minimal and yours will be maximized.

What the hell are you talking about? Superman punches and the reason being yolo? You've trained so much that you have to fight the adults, which you now complain are too strong for you?

You do finishers? What are you? A wrestler in the WWE?

This is ridiculous and I'm not buying it.

Can I just explain!

Look I guess putting yolo was a kinda stupid thing to do; apologies!!!

Just forget It please!?

I'll just ask the sensei...

Apologies to everyone who isn't happy or is angry about this; just me being my usual self; doing stupid stuff desperate for a point

drop the superman punch, before it gets you thrown across the floor, being off the ground is one of the worst things you can do in sparring, all they need to do is tap you in the are and you will go flying. neither of those techniques are in tkd or shotokai, your luck the students are amateurs, if you tried to leave the ground with one of my students it would be the last time you did. and what the heck is yolo, your instructor lets you get away with that. i would have just smacked you for it.

shotokai is a longer range style then most tae kown do, range depends upon the length of stance as well as the techniques being used

you are should be lighter and faster then some if not most of the adults you need to use those attributes to your advantage. your not going to beat a bigger person with strength your best chances is through technique, speed and timing.

You have to be parachute in those part of the echo woods.

Hi!

So, I do two different martial arts (shotokai-karate and taekwondo) I do rely on kicking from a distance, commonly jumping then following with a massive superman punch because yolo.

Anyway I'm 13 and I'm only ever allowed to spar the adults (18-25) because it's a bit of a one-sided fight with people my own size/weight because I've trained so much.

Although some of the adults just have massive limps and I can only get in a few superman punches/ blitz's. I can't ever seem to get the kicks I hugely rely on because they just swat them aside then do a simple front kick from miles away, and connect, no effort!?

*note, superman punches aren't the only thing I do, just like a finisher xD

How could I adapt my fighting style to match those much bigger than me? (Note it's mostly in karate where they are much bigger than me)

Literally any help would be appreciated!

Thanks!
